I took the quote out of context, but she is directly referring to a belief in God in her reference to "faith."

I need to pick up a book on neurotheology. The ability of otherwise reasonable and rational individuals to somehow believe in a God is incredibly interesting.

I think the OP is looking into it too much, but if he has real questions go to a CATHOLIC priest, not a protestant (Lutheran, etc.). They know that the bible is not to be read literally. Having grown up going to a Lutheran Church, and then going to a Catholic school, there are many flaws with both. But the Catholics read it much more contextually. They just have some problems with the ways that they administer the word.

If you are serious about knowing go to a fucking priest not a bmw forum.

No, I'm saying that there are no definitive answers to your questions, but if you want to actually learn about it go to a priest. And not all priests are child molesters Farbin. My pastor at my Lutheran Church doesnt have a clue about half the stuff we talk about at school, and many read the bible literally. My point is that you read the bible contextually, the way it was meant to be read, and the people that can best explain it to you from a contextual point of view are those of the catholic faith.

Did I say a word about molestation? Nope. I also talk about faith and religion with real world people, not the pastor and other students in my Bible Study HS.

And you are wrong, I was misled for 20 years by the Catholic system, I left, wandered, and finally found something that would have made sense from the very beginning had I been introduced to it first.

The Catholic faith is one of the most perverted (not child sex) option out there, Popes, venerating the mother instead of the Son of God, forcing the requirement to not be a sinner, then tell a man what you'd done wrong so he can absolve you. That's all BS.

IE. If God doesn't exist and you don't believe in him, no repercussions. If God doesn't exist and you do believe in him, no repercussions. If God does exist and you don't believe in him, eternal damnation awaits, and if God does exist and you do believe in him, an eternity in Heaven awaits.
