our schools suck because of THE LIBERAL AGENDA

It amazes me how much you guys demonize people that aren't republican/conservative.

I am curious to hear what exactly you guys are in a tizzy about with this though. And please don't feed me the ol creationism vs darwinism.

I think our schools suck because of the religious agenda....school board are largely comprised of religious figures. It's like having our health classes taught by kraft and tyson.

        It's the exact opposite.
The lack of religion has been going at the same time as Liberals removing things like the Constitution from our children's classes.

you must be on crack if you think the constitution was axed from the course. I had to read the whole thing and was tested on it.

I think the biggest reason people of a republican/conservative question the "teaching" received in the generation(s) younger than them is because they can't otherwise figure out how they (younger generation) is willing to turn it's back on everything our country was founded on/for.

You still have not answered my questions and you quote me to begin a thread but not answer. Come on man a general what you think answer to each,

really come on. I will give you the answers then ask or look at any HS or elementary school book and see what you find. The only reason I know, is because I saw what was being taught in my moms middle school about 2 years after I got outta HS and it was even vastly different than I was brought up with, So I have spent much time reading and educating my self, and it is eye opening to say the least.

It has for many many schools. Do some research before you go thinking we're talking shit about the Liberal agenda when you don't even know the Constitution isn't even taught in many schools. many others just skim it and move on.
Many others that do also do it in the senior year in High School...briefly.

I think the removal of personal responsibility and underlying theme that the gov't is the answer to all our problems is a big reason for the decline in public schools.

                            UMMM I missed this one.

Most schools start about 1868 or reconstruction. They do a little bit on the Pilgrims in elementary and then in Middle school jump over the revolution other than telling you who GW is. Then jump right to Civil war reconstruction. You learn that Lincoln was shot because some guy hated him because he freed the slaves. You learn that all white people hated black people and kept them as salves. You learn that the 3/5 clause only counted freed blacks as 3/5 of a person blah balh blah.

There is very little to do with the revolution the founders and the Constitution. I got it but I am pushing 30 and went to a very small rural school and still used very old txt books. But the shit I learned then is still very very revisionist and leaves much out. But at least I got the revolution and the lead up, and the civil war and slavery. Much more so than now days. The modern text books make (that mention it) make is seem that all white people owned slaves. It sickening to be honest, those who dont know history are doomed to repeat it. The scope of WWI WWII, Korea Nam and what not consist of evil US hate of other nations and bossing them around.

Tucson schools have been teaching a Version of history based on the race of the child. All the Indians are in one calls, all the blacks in another, Hispanics, Asians, and whites as well. They get a History based on that groups Plight at the hands of the white man, and the white kids get the full boat of white guilt. I know this because my mom is a public school teacher and she is fully disgusted with what they are trying to push. Shes a science teacher and just sticks with the FACTS not the political agenda.

Dude you really need to get off religion's dick, try blaming something else sometime.

Our schools suck because of the absolute incompetence that starts with teachers and goes up to the top administration. My old boss and I started an IT consulting and tech support company but we spent many years in educational IT, if the general public actually knew how much money is wasted due to unqualified people they would be rioting in the streets. Our director of finance, 2nd in command in the district under the superintendent, just got her bachelors from an online school 2 years ago...she has been in that position for 6 years, she started in the district as a secretary. That is just one instance of many in 1 district, the same crap goes on in every public school. It is kind of a joke with all the people who work IT, pretty much the only people who get whats going on because most of them came from private industry. I'm sure if they could get away with promoting classroom aids to technicians they would but at least the computers need to work in a school if nothing else does.

The biggest problem that comes from these incompetent people is nobody is willing to do anything. When you have that horrible teacher that produces horrible test scores, refuses to change their teaching practices and gets tons of parent complaints they just skate by. It is easier to do nothing so that is what happens, they work out their minimum required years and retire. So how could anyone get a quality education when these are the people in control?

It isn't unions that allow this to happen, it would be there regardless of organized labor. It isn't a religious agenda, that is just plain retarded, seriously that is like saying our schools suck because they teach evolution. I would agree that school boards definitely contribute, but that is because you have unqualified community members who just do whatever the administration tells them to and take their hand outs and bragging rights in their rotary club. Public education needs a huge reform from the bottom to the top, actually from the top to the bottom, lets start where the biggest problem is. I say the first thing to do would be merit based pay, make it worth it to be a good teacher and you will in fact see good teachers emerge. It is just to easy to do the bare minimum since nobody is going to notice if you do or don't.
