You know, religion in school is acceptable under one circumstance. All faiths (past and present) must be studied equally. Mithra, Zeus, Allah, the ever transforming judeo-christian god and all of their tea time friends. (yes - I know god and allah are translated the same)

How is it not relevant? You say the education system is on the decline because of the "religious right's agenda" and when questioned, you brought up evolution and how Christians are trying to stifle free thought. As Dawkins is one of the biggest proponents of anti-religious sentiment and how it relates to reasonable, logically, intelligent thought (i.e. if you believe in God you're of lesser intelligence) I figured it was fitting. His sentiments (Naturalism) have been propogated and pushed to the forefront by media and many of his readers. You don't have to read Dawkins to share his overt anti-Christian/Religious ideals as you seem to.

And, I'm not saying Religion should be allowed in schools. But anti-religion shouldn't either as you're seemingly proposing. I'm not sure how someones belief in the soul living on, i.e. my actions matter more so than just in this world is narrow minded or of lesser intelligence while everyone can agree that bad actions have bad consequences.

        a. I didn't argue that evolution couldn't include god. However, that idea shouldn't be taught in science classes. If it is, it would be equally logical to propose that Neils Bohr traveled back in time and ejaculated into the ocean - eventually yeilding life.

        b. I'm not anti-christian or anti religion. I understand that there's a level of comfort that it provides that some need. So long as they don't try to pity me or get in my face about jesus I don't care.

        c. I'm not suggesting anti-religion in class either. I don't know where you got that. Schools that are funded by a secular state should have secular content.

I am for doing good to the poor, but...I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed...that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer. -Ben Franklin

Totally agree with this. Even back then I hated when other kids got stuff for free because they were poor but I'd have to spend my allowance. That's bullshit!

                            A. You're not claiming anti-religion but you think it's as fanciful as the above bolded? I'm still not seeing where I'm wrong in anything I've said.

                            B. As long as they don't get in your face about Jesus but you can get in everyone elses face about how stupid you think they are for believing in him? Mmm.

                            C. You're not anti-religion but your whole point was that Religion is the downfall of:

                            1. America's Education System
                            2. Free thought
