Wait, you guys don't know that the U.S. has been sending $85 million per year average to Palestine since 1993?

I don't doubt that. Doesn't make it any better.

I know we spend 100s of millions on things I have no clue about.

My real question is why??? I simply don't get political "tactfulness." If we stop funding other countries, pork barreling, etc what are the repercussions?

What is anyone going to turn around and do to us?

Why help the middle east on such a large scale? I think the natural response will be because of oil (the economic benefit) but is it really realistic that we would lose all access to it we didn't donate "aid" packages?

Are you familiar with the oil embargos of the 70s?

Dont we give Israel a bunch of moneyz? I can't believe Hamas would accept our 'aid' when they rejected Israels. And lastly, hopefully this can reach people in the strip who are just stuck in a shitty situation.

I don't think any president ever in our history would even imply support in this type of issue.

Really, who is he trying to please, because I don't see a bunch of happy US citizens.

you have forgotten about carter. IIRC Carter did something along the line of giving the Palestinians a bunch of money and shit like this. Might be wrong though

The pissed-off every-other-country-in-the-world that isn't happy with the United States due to Israel's recent theatrics with the flotilla. This is damage control.

Uhh, last I checked that was not our responsibility. We didn't do it. Shouldn't that UN group or whatever they are called be doing this?

Why we didnt do it and Israel is well with in its rights to be doing what its doing. according to international maritime law. But then again you knew this

Practically all of the countries in the U.N. Security Council strongly condemned Israel's actions. The (questionable) legality of the flotilla attack and its appropriateness in a human sense are not related.

These countries are pissed at the U.S. because 1) it is Israel's chief financier and 2) it keeps blocking their efforts to legitimately, legally, and impartially investigate the situation.

                          briefly.

I don't even feel like researching my hypothesis though since it's so far from ever possible.

I just wish we weren't responsible for cleaning up everyone else's mess and we could deal with our own. If we really needed the oil it's not like we couldn't just go take it... the cost of forcing our hold on oil would probably be cheaper than this BS.

^unrealistic and full of holes, I know.

Plus I'm sure we are gaining help in the middle east from some countries. Hard to know exactly what's going on.

I base my views on my own principle of not holding America above other countries. Blatant nationalism is as bad as blatant racism.

Good to hear you got a laugh out of it. I was right, though :p
