I'm saying that my best interests are much more closely tied to my country's interests than another country's interests.

This concept seemed so obvious to me until you forced me to start thinking about it.

Hmmmm.... I'm struggling to put it into words with out talking in circles.

It just comes down to me looking out for myself, and wanting the government (which I pay for - or will more when I'm working) to support me as well. I don't want to pay for other countries support. If I have extra money I will donate it to people around me, whom I feel need it. There is no reason for my money to be going towards other countries that should be responsible for themselves. That's it, self responsibility.

On the other hand, how does expecting America to provide aid to others mean that you don't consider us to be above other countries. Clearly if we are all equals then they wouldn't be looking to us, right? (not that we are even financially better off at this point... obama's debt plan isn't looking so good)

Do I have to connect the dots??? You ought to know my stance and what I have against it. For a former soviet resident you seem to be a bit more big govt in your positions than I would expect.
