how about this then, the average in the industry for knowingly ignoring safety procedures is less than 10, BP had 731 citations before the Deep Water Horizons explosion. I am sure someone try to defend that, but I am not sure how you could do reasonably, as the proof is 11 people are dead and Gulf will more than likely be a dead zone for some time.

First that article is designed as a slap to BP not just information.
What were the fines for? I could care less if they had 10k fines, what were they for? It does matter.

BP received an award for the Government what just 10 days before the exposition. This isn't just a BP problem.

No amount of money is going to "fix" it, especially the environmental damage.

The fact that there are millions of barrels of oil in the Gulf MEANS that proper precautions WERE NOT TAKEN.

I don't care if they followed every Government mandate, they still fucked up horribly.

When this is the possible result, more planning is absolutely necessary. If nothing else, an effective response team/plan would be great. How long has it been and this sludge is still pouring out? Fucking gross negligence by BP and other companies too.
