Somehow you have the idea we don't know how hard it is to become an American citizen....lol. It should be hard. Maybe not as tough as it is but if we made it easy then we might as well open the border even more.
How does that justify someone illegally crossing the border and spitting out a kid and calling the kid legal?

Pheww!! Someone has anger management (unresolved) issues... Last time I checked you can only become an american citizen if you were not one before, and by comparison, it´s not nearly as hard. I knew some would feel offended by my post, that was never my intention. I also thought I was being very clear at the end of the post when I said I´m not justifying anything.

By the way, maybe your case was different, but I´ve been always taught babies are born, not spit out. And every country I can think of gives automatic citizenship to babies born within their borders. I believe it´s a law every country adopts based on the assumption those persons will grow to love, honor and defend that country. Besides, all this arguing about "anchor babies" is pretty much pointless, given that nothing has ever stopped immigration from separating american kids from their illegally residing parents. They have always done it and never stopped. I´m not proposing going as far as Brazil, where if you are the foreign parent of a brazilian baby, you have the chance to become a brazilian citizen yourself, process being pretty quick and straightforward to my knowledge. They do that under the idea (again, easily applicable THERE) that if you are there while your child is born, you will most likely want to stay there and better yourself with all the rights and obligations as any other citizen, and you will merge with brazilian society, etc. etc. Back on topic, it´s easy to see how this alleged "law" this thread discusses won´t be passed, fortunately.

Who's angry? I'm just pointing out your negative post about us stupid Americans because we obviously have no idea what it takes to become citizens. Assuming someone already is not....of course.
It doesn't really matter what you're taught. And you can argue semantics all day long the point is the same. Anchor babies are born from illegal mothers. Making it a 100% valid point there Charles.
Now if you can add some logic to your failing "argument" it would really help. See people don't swim miles and miles, cross over desserts with little to no water, pay large sums of money to be smuggled in or be cramped into a very small area for days at a time to get to Brazil now do they. Nor do they have the same very large border we have.
America is the best country on the face of the earth. Allowing anyone and everyone into this country would just bring this great country down to the same lower level of some other countries. And that buddy boy is why these ILLEGAL immigration laws are being forced into the system. And they will pass, it's just a matter of our politicians seeing that this country could turn into Mexico (shit hole) if we allowed all the illegals in that want in.
My point remains the same. Immigration isn't meant to be easy here. Get over it Frank.

By your comments, it´s easy to infere you have all been born here -forgive me if I´m wrong, maybe I´m assuming too much- . None of you in particular, and all of you in general, have not the slightest idea of all that takes the process (time, applications, money) involved in being an (alien) legal resident of the US. To make a very long story short, it´s absolutely ridiculous and expensive, to the point of making it not such a smart (or viable) option. Not justifying anything or anybody´s actions, just wanted to point that out.
