So with everything happening in society today and America being on a course that I believe will more-less end the country... I have been thinking less about the minutia of today and more about what has created this. I boil it down to this - the Homogeneous nature of America is gone. But why?
We could blame this on one party or another but generally all forms of government fail the people. Politicians are sleezy, some are better than others, and they generally just don't get things done. Government makes bad decisions because they have power - forget parties for a moment when thinking about this.
Our society promotes freedom of religion, orientation, belief, thought, race, etc. Which sounds great - no problem with that. The problem is, that if everyone thinks something different you no longer have a homogeneous society that functions effectively.
What you end up with is subcultures, and subcultures inside subcultures. People aren't on the "same page" as a society, and so many people have interests that are divergent from what another person is trying to accomplish. Instead of trying to promote unity as a society, we promote diversity.
Look back from the 40's to the present and you see that society becomes increasingly divergent in their thoughts, opinions and actions - particularly after the 50's. The older generatiosn developed the "American Way" which bolstered our country to being the greatest nation on the planet for a long time - it worked pretty well.
There are a million examples of this, but in short to stop this from running on... America needs some solidarity we need to find a way to get everyone working (both literally and figuratively) in a way that keeps us together - promotion of hyper-diversity and coddling society in the process creates a country that is less homogeneous and largely dysfunctional - e.g. where we are today. We need to find some common tennants that people can adhere to that make things work.
Note - this is NOT stating any race, gender, orientation, religion, etc. is better than another. It's saying that on a fundamental level (people work, pursue their own dreams, are self-sufficient, etc.) we have to find (or maybe restore) the foundation from which all of these other things can come from. Some ideas are proven to work better than others for society function from a factual standpoint, but that's another topic...
