Really, so you would rather have the 100 or so bridges you drive on frequently, end up at the bottom of the river or valley???? You bitch about the quality of the roads you drive on, then how else would would you fix them. When you flush where does the shit go??? You need to fix and replace that shit every 30-50 years and the same when you turn on the water. Most all of that infrastructure that is in place was installed in the 50's 60's 70's and is either well past its service life expectancy or rapidly approaching it.
Rather than keep the shit up and keep investing in it over the last 30-40 years they have been spending it on social programs.
You tell me which is better, construction workers building and maintaining the shit you and 99% of all Americans take for granted, or pay the Poor to sit home and play x box in their govt subsidized housing eating govt subsidized food ????????The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

Infrastructure such as roadways and sewage systems is in my opinion, one of the few things the government should actually be responsible for.sigpic

yeah road building and putting water main and sewer in has been good to my family. Dad did it for 35 years before illness killed him, I have made a good living doing it for 10+ years till I switched fields to live where I wanted to live.

^ Yes. This is an additional $50b to the ~$28b from the Stimulus bill. The money that is tied up in bureaucratic tape mazes of doom.

http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2009/03/...9431236123389/Through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, "we will be investing $28 billion in our highways, money that every one of our 50 states can start using immediately to put people back to work," Obama said. "I can say that 14 days after I signed our Recovery Act into law, we are seeing shovels hit the ground."Comment

With two months until the midterm elections, the timing of all this 'economic recovery funding' seems to be a lot more than just coincidental. Some Dems are saying they are distancing themselves from it, but I'm sure some will be going home to stump for votes saying "Some of that money will be coming right here for 'the blah blah' project". The voting public is getting fed up with being spoon fed this BS....the politicians seem care less. I think we are going to see a good number of incumbents voted out in November.
