What do you guys think of the new body scanners at airports?

The U.S. Transportation Security Administration will update its pat-down methods at 450 U.S. airports on Friday to allow more aggressive touching, with inspectors instructed to touch travelers' personal do-not-fly zones if they refuse scanners. Who's ready for a road trip?

    Pedos and the like.

I travel a lot when I'm not in school. I can't wait for them to touch my breasts.

Other than the fact that they take like 20sec per person, I don't see a downside. Its not like the scanner is zooming in on your junk. Have you seen the images from them? You're more likely to get aroused by Flinstones cartoon porn.

The screening is still less in the US than in Europe. I had to go through two metal detectors, scan my carry on twice, and be wanded at MUC a few weeks ago.

I went through jack for security in the EU. Only when getting in line to board a plane to the US did I get the "SS" mark on my boarding pass. Funny how they told me BEFORE I gave them my luggage, while I was with my family, who were not selected.
                What a joke.

                    Which country? When?

A friend that flew over from Germany several months ago said she experienced tight screening upon departure.

                      Sweden, Germany, Denmark. This summer.

My opinion of almost all security I've ever gone through is it's nothing more than "going through the motions." Rarely do I encounter someone I think is actually intelligent.

I found that the screening before my flight from Berlin to Stüttgart wasn't all that tight, but the one from Munich to DC was pretty intense.

If they were intelligent, they wouldn't be waving wands for a living haha

That's my point right there. How are idiots going to catch the real terrorists, let alone deranged morons who try lighting their own asses on fire?

                            Full-body X-ray scanners ;)

A well designed bomb looks like something normal on an x-ray. Anyone who honestly wants to take out a plane can get a large enough explosive device on-board to do so.

The idiots that thought a macbook air was a suspicious device because it didn't have the harddrive they were trained to look for aren't going to find an explosive made by experts.

I'm all for seeing more trained dogs in airports. It's much harder to fool a dog than a wand waving nincompoop. Unfortunately, training dogs and their handlers costs more than plopping 30 fools in front of a training video and handing them a badge.
