i also believe there is data that shows specific areas within the USA that have the highest gun ownership percentages also have the lowest crime rates
If banning guns works.....

I think the gun violence charts are a little misleading. I'd like to see charts that show violent crimes with any weapon. I think the chart would change drastically.
I'm not convinced our society is any more (or less) violent than others. If you're going to commit a violent crime/murder, why choose a knife when you can get a gun just as easily?Originally posted by Grueliusand i do not know what bugg brakes are.Comment

priapism, yes the Ivory Coase is in the middle of turmoil.I think the gun violence charts are a little misleading. I'd like to see charts that show violent crimes with any weapon. I think the chart would change drastically.

And basically all the other countries are holdovers of military regimes where gun ownership was not allowed.
Doesn't seem like a fair comparison.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

Problem is, people don't need guns to commit crimes/kill people. Come on people.
I like conceal carry because they make criminals think, "Does this guy have a gun?" Do I wanna risk my life trying to rob/assault this guy?" Ban guns, and that's done. Law abiding citizens will have little to no defense, as the criminal element will know, "Hey, this guy doesn't have a gun, I think I'll assault/rob him."
Those charts show only firearm crimes. That's going to be kinda biased.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

I would just shoot myself if I had to live in any of those places...Countries with lower firearm homicide rates than us:
Uruguay
Ivory Coast
Poland
Bulgaria
Slovakia

True. But guns do factor into a larger part of crime/crime prevention. I see where you're coming from. :up:1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

Further than that, it is illegal to carry a concealed weapon here (note weapon) yet our homicide rate is none to flash.
Even so, I still dont like the idea that randoms in the street might be carrying a gun.sigpicComment

The thing I don't like about that is the only people that will be carrying a gun ARE the criminals. Police are always too far away when any crime happens, much less a gun crime.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

I think this is mostly a cultural difference between you and me.
Thing is, I dont trust people to operate guns properly. Retards cant drive properly let alone operate guns properly in populated ares.sigpicComment

Thing that most people in other countries don't understand is the guns here that are registered are rarely used in crimes. People that go through licensing requirements don't do so so that they can shoot up a rival dealer. It's the back lot sales that end up being used in crimes, and those are already illegal.sigpic
