From what I understand the filing fee for the US paperwork is $680.

The price is $300 for paperwork to become a mexican citizen AND it is required you know the language.

You aren't even required to be fluent in English just be able to understand "basic symbols, phrases and words" to become an American citizen.

Both countries require you to know the history/culture of the country as well.

They might be 'wilfully break[ing] the law', but they have basic human rights like the rest of us. One of which is the right to try to improve their lives. If a law encroaches upon that right, then its legality should be disputed. As a Californian, I have friends whose families have come here 'illegally'. They enjoy their lives, live peacefully within the community, pay their taxes, and contribute. This is the MAJORITY of the people who come here. Also, to quote the US Immigration website, 20-30% of immigrants go back to their home countries anyway, because the lack job prospects in the states.

You can try to justify it however you want, the point is, they break the law to come here. Why should that be rewarded? Quotas are a good thing, unlimited and unchecked immigration into our country would be a bad thing for all of us.

We are already unable to effectively deal with the population we have, imagine what would happen if we just said, "Free for all, everyone is welcome. And it won't even cost you anything!"

Again, look up what it takes to become citizens of other countries. Are there any 1st world countries that allow unlimited immigration into their countries with automatic citizenship? Serious question, but i'll bet the answer is no.

The right to a better life does not mean you get to disregard the laws of the country in which you wish to enter.

The problem is the quota that we establish for immigrants. The 'illegals' typically pay close to the legal fees to come here illegally anyway, but they don't (shouldn't) want to wait around for a few years for their name to pop up on the eligibility list. Do away with the quotas, maintain the fees, and you'll make more money regardless.

I seriously doubt they come all this way to send funding back home so their buddies can buy drugs with it. They're people too, and people have the right to improve themselves. It's almost to a point in the world where we don't even need borders anymore. You can tear that up however you want, but know that the EU has an open border policy within most of itself and they don't have much of a problem over there. Yes, there's the crime problem in Mexico, but that's a separate issue altogether.
