At least Ron Paul understands that we can't continue to have $1 trillion/year deficits for eternity.

What are the Dems doing to handle a budget right now? Nothing.

For fucks sake, they could have EASILY passed a budget while they had the supermajority in both houses, but didn't.

But some out there, complete non-issue is what discounts the guy? That's a perfect example of why nothing gets accomplished.

No no no, you got it all wrong. We legalize the drugs, shoot the polluters and turn the radar guns on the cops.

Have you forgotten about the filibuster wars of 2008, 2009, and 2010? Our government is unfortunately broken, and it looks like the Republicans are pushing for a shutdown with the current budget proceedings.

^It takes 60 votes to break a filibuster in the Senate, which the Dems had.

Please correct me if I'm misremembering.

What? I thought "birthers" were the people who think Obama was born outside the US.

I get that, I've just never heard "Pro-Life" referred to as a "birther." Because since 2008 "birther" has been associated with those who think BHO isn't a legit president.

In reality, even having a conservative majority in Congress/Supreme Court and Executive branch didn't touch Roe Vs Wade, why would he think that's going to magically change now? How many (R) presidential terms have we had since '73?

Well, instead of a filibuster, Democrats are walking away from their jobs to put government at a standstill in a couple states. That's not any better, and definitely not how gov should operate.

The American people are probably to blame, being such sheep to be swayed towards Dems, then away, and these majorities have the minorities desperate to resist the power of the other. People believe anything, without any reasoning or proof and ignorance leads them to vote. And all this bipartisan talk is just fluff bullshit.

There are people looking to really attack deficits under control and debt within reason. Even some people calling for putting down arms between parties over other issues to worry about it. Spending needs to be changed, and majority of issue is non-discretionary but mandatory items. Medical and retirement programs will bankrupt the country if they are not fixed. But bitching and whining about other issues or living at the extremes of reason is easier than tackling it. Long term US solvency will not come from clipping tiny discretionary items or debating over line items.

kronus, right now, if the Fed's DOUBLED the Federal Income Tax, that would close up approx 40% of this year's deficit. Cuts have to be made.

For which brackets? Also, your argument is "if the tax rate is increased, it won't be enough to make up the deficit. So, we have to reduce the tax rate." How does that even compute?

                      For all brackets.

I argue for the fairtax, not lower taxes.

It all makes 100% sense now. You always seem to buck the standard European viewpoint stereotype when it comes to this kinda thing. (that and the excellent grasp of US slang in the engrish).
