Pajamasmedia is also claiming the LAPD is ignoring state law while other sources say the law allows, but does not require impoundment. If you ask me, they're selling soap, not news.

Then let's take that out of the equation.
Do you think changing a law or regulation because it targets a larger portion of one class of citizen is the right thing to do? Should we go through all the law books and see which race/class is arrested more and make sure to change all those laws for said race/class? So that it's "fair".
Or should all laws effect all citizens equally regardless if they are more inclined to break said law?Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

You mean like Jim Crow laws? Some laws are unfair, and should be changed. In this case, the law remains unchanged as far as I can see. It seems the LAPD is using the discretion the law allows them to. The stated reason for using that discretion does bother me. It appears the LAPD is not enforcing immigration laws either, I think that bothers me more. But what bothers me most is sensationalized news. If the LAPD is really acting as pajamasmedia claims, I would be incensed at the LAPD. Instead I'm incensed at pajamasmedia for stretching the truth (not to say outright lying). Then let's take that out of the equation.

Lol, I see you still haven't read all the links or you want to keep ignoring what's going on there. That's alright you lift your head out of the sand whenever you like. I have no reason to hand feed you the reason this is unjust.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

I don't know what to make of that. Why did you even post this if you weren't interested in some response? Do I have to agree with you to get a simple question answered?sigpic

Accusing me of having my head in the sand is uncalled for. I had some interest in discussing this before, now I don't. I think you're a troll. Since you can't even be bothered with answering the two questions I asked, you probably don't have the time or energy to wash your hands, so I don't want you to "hand feed me". Thanks for wasting my time.sigpic

If you refuse to at least read the links and see why they came to that conclusion, I can't help you. Don't like the link to Pajamasmedia, fine. You attacked the link not the point of the thread. I could call you troll but I don't do that because that is childish and doesn't allow people to speak freely. As some others on here do.
I'm not a cop in LA. I'm not the one enforcing this loophole for illegals. But I do see how it's wrong and how it's unfair for non illegals. Do you want to keep focusing on that link or the point that illegals are being given a way out of this enforcement.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Well if the illegal had a way to get a driver's license you wouldn't have that problem now would you?

Just because I don't like your sources doesn't mean I completely disagree. Your dismissive response didn't help me understand either, as you appear predisposed to make a lot of assumptions about my reading ability and some of your statements strike me as illogical. Few issues are black and white. You don't seem inclined to clarify it.
That's ok, I didn't intend to agravate you. I was confused at first by the 2007 date on one of the links, but thought you understood from my later post that I realized it is still an issue. All I was trying to do was eliminate the exagerations that tend to excite people and get to the core issue. I don't know who thinks illegal immigration is a good thing, even the illegal immigrants would probably prefer some changes in the system.
I will probably continue to discount the veracity of news sources which exagerate the truth, and I will politely cease asking you questions about this issue. If you do discover reliable evidence that LAPD policy in this matter will actually discriminate between legal residents and illegal residents, I might be interested again.sigpic
