    Fact of the matter is:
The goals were illegally placed. (Doesnt' matter if you think the law is stupid, whatever)
They were asked numerous times, even through certified mail, to take them down. And refused.

    No sympathy.

granted but why lie that they could keep the pole. that's pvt property and why threaten to arrest them for protesting?

i think those people are loony for climbing a pole but that doesn't make it right.

Because, it's gets them off the pole so you can finish your job and leave, instead of escalating the argument.

You really want to pull out the "respect" issue considering how the homeowners were acting?

like I said, they are loony.. but I don't expect lies and intimidation from public workers (aka cops).

                    You're completely right.

Could have been handled better on BOTH sides.

Doesn't matter if you think the law is stupid or whatever? At what point does it matter that cities are making laws that are pointless just because the city "wants the city to look cleaner" type of bullshit?
Portland is doing the same type of shit. Business signs are being removed because they are "ugly". Regardless of what it might do to that business.
It has everything to do with the law being stupid. The enforcement is even more ignorant.
That specific pole was in a cul-de-sac...lol. SO DANGEROUS. Will street hockey be next to fall? What are they going to do, confiscate your sticks and goals?
End all laws are for the retarded.
Now make sure you call me a troll so you can ignore my point as usual.

If that pole had really been there 60 years that it should have been grandfathered in and exempt. Looks like a bunch of shit to me.

That would require them to think. Not going to happen.

Yeah... And I heard about that taking down of the painted signs. Wife told me that most businesses are just paying the fine and tacking it up to advertising expenses, but I do feel that that is a bunch of shit too. I have a feeling a lot of those have been up there a very long time and they sure as shit aren't hurting anyone.

Exactly. Back at the consumer as usual. It gets worse than that though. They are trying to remove signs in certain areas because of the placement as well. It's not good enough for city councils to meet and say, "Hey we have nothing to talk about today." They have to make ignorant shit up to stick to small businesses. I could easily go on and on with the nonsense Portland forces on small businesses.
