Not sure if serious?
But no, quite the opposite. Special interest money/overly powerfull lobby groups etc are an attack on democracy.
It's the governments responsibility to reflect the opinion, concerns and aspirations of the majority whilst protecting the rights of minorities, not promote those of special interest groups.Last edited by dirtysix; 04-19-2011, 12:31 PM.sigpicComment

How about the last 2 days, S&P lowers our AAA ratting from stable to negative and the stock market dont react only fall a little bit then rally. Dose that not seem odd to you?????
Look no further than health care, govt gets involved with paying for it, and giving out tax dollars to fund hospitals. For a facility to be eligible for govt grants and loans for what ever reason they have to accept the MEDI patients. The thing is the govt says they will only pay xxx for a given treatment which in many cases is LESS than it actually costs to do it. Well those costs have to made up somewhere so it goes on the back of the retail customer and the evil insurance providers. Also look at the flow chart for 0-care.
Fannie/Freddie and the CRA, pushing up housing and forcing banks to lend to sub primes by law, then saying go forth and do what ever we will back you up. There by taking all the risk outta it for the banks HOW THE FUCK IS THIS NOT MEDDLING??????
Farmers are tilling under cereal and bread grain ground for CORN to make Ethanol. Really do I need to connect those dots for you. We will be using as much corn this year to make that shit as we will too feed our live stock. All thanks to a subside.
Need I continue, the IRS and the EPA have grown well beyond their intended purpose and are now the primary weapons of the govt to keep both citizenry and business in line.
Really should I continue on ????? The examples are endless.

Also most of those issues were fixed with long before the govt got involved with it (other than in the case of nation wide monopolies ) Thats why we had the union movement and much of what you are bitching about its why they are still important today. But thats a different thread. Yes the union movement was a FREE MARKET SOLUTION TO A FREE MARKET PROBLEM.
Originally posted by evandaelthe biggest problem is the disconnect between we the people and they the government. the government does not listen to, does not care for, and is not comprised of representatives of the majority. instead we are blinded by ideology, which is funded by the minority. fundamentally, though, we are the government, and starving the government is starving the people. no resources for the government, no resources for us. the government falls, we fall.
Govt is one thing and one thing only a PARASITE on society, a necessary parasite yes and this is why our founder left us with the tools to keep it in check. Too bad over the course of history we have become complacent and we are where we are today.

It's these kind of crazy rants that make me wonder how many people are being brainwashed by the Glen Becks of the world versus reading educational books, traveling, and interacting with other societies of the world to gain a broader perspective how other societies work in comparison to our own. I find, most people I have met with very individualistic viewpoints tend to limit their interaction with diverse groups or places. I think a little exposure to how different people and cultures live and interact with their government and resources may change your viewpoint, not to one that is necessarily "liberal" but to one that is more pragmatic.sigpicComment

its our society... the us of a is crazy about individualism. so many people cant see how we all really rely on each other to do our part.

Except that statement is ignorant and counterproductive in its own right. Hell, I would bet that the vast majority of the people in here arguing for not raising taxes on those who pay probably aren't in the 250k+ bracket, its just that we have a different view on how we interact with each other than you.Im now E30less.

The rest of them get the benefit of offshoring much of their income as to not incur taxes in the US. They get a credit on taxes paid to foreign govts just like how GA gives me a credit on taxes paid in KS.Im now E30less.

How you figure that. Do about 2 mins of research, on Soros and you will see I am on the money. and then look to see who he and his organizations fund. But I suppose you would be all for his goals for the world wouldn't you???Originally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.
