To me the issue isn't weather God exists or not. We will never know. Where the argument lies is whether your the type of person that believes life is a never ending journey to discover moral perfection, or if you believe morals are individual and everyone has their own moral code. The reason religious folk believe in one God is to signify that there is one true way to live. As opposed to the pagan belief system it replaced that had many moral systems due to there being many gods. All atheism does is take out the gods but leaves the issue of multiple moral systems. My only messiah is Dr.Bronners. The pope of soap! All one or none!Comment

I could be made to believe there is a God like the Christians believe. However I would never follow him as he's full of hypocrisy. And who's faith? The one that says, "I'm a Christian and judge everyone..." when the Bible which they (here I can do it to...) "Profess" to follow says to take the plank from your own eye before you wrongly go about picking the fleck of dust out of someone else's. Or, to be totally 100% clear and overly exasperating as you've seemed to need in the past few days: Judge other's as you will be judged. Here, in another turn of phrase: Don't judge so much other's and worry about your own shit. Paraphrased from the Bible. And by Paraphrased I mean of course, heavily paraphrased and rephrased.
As to your second question, I don't assume or would I say I really do follow the Bible any better than anyone else. As I've said in the past, we're all sinners, yeah? Some people hide behind their religiosity and "faith" and other's act on faith. They strive to follow what they claim to have faith in. Ultimately, putting faith in it. I'm not sure what you're missing here. I'm not perfect. Nor is anyone else. But, the statement by Mar1 is incorrect to Christianity in regards to the Bible. Again, I know there's a LARGE majority of overly religious types that claim to know God, or follow God, or even believe in God that fail miserably to get the basic and core premise of what the Bible says. Christians are full of hypocrisy because they are following ancient propaganda that no longer applies to our world. That wont change...
A reasonable and logical human being will fall somewhere in the middle and simply practice tolerance on a larger scale. Our biggest downfall as a species is the fact that we need love (to be loved, to love) and a reasoning for existence when there simply isnt one. Most of our lives are worth no more than the squished spider that's under our shoes. The ones that invent, and dedicate their lives to the greater good of humanity generally aren't Christians. Its no coincidence for sure.

^ I'm talking all monotheistic religions. not only christians. To me God should be taken out of the equation. If you take god out of people beliefs and judge people solely on their actions I think atheists and god fearing folk have alot in common in their actions. Both groups follow a single set of moral laws already, the constitution. So to me a law abiding atheist in practice is the same as a law abiding religious person.Comment

But if Jesus Christ Al-fucking-mighty is the one and only true God and everything is real, none of this would be so hard. There wouldnt be 100,000,000,000 different kinds of "God" in different shapes and forms and human-like entities. Just think, back in ancient times when they worshiped animals and shit. We look back at them and think, "What a bunch of idiots". In 1000 years from now, are they going to look back at us and think "What a bunch of idiots". By that time, the world will probably have exploded and we'll all be living in space creating a new humanity worshiping microphysics and quantum mechanics and shit.

90% of those people are so old that they lived in a time where you had to be christian, or face ridicule and even death for not belonging to the church. So I don't put much stock in it. Notice how not a single one of the names listed has been alive for more than 60 years... coincidence?Comment
