I know several cops and they'll be the first to tell you that there's more bad cops than good. Just like people.

Cops are basically people who settled for less (plus the authority) instead of making somebody of themselves.
Maybe where you live, but it's not easy by any means to become a police officer here. The physical portion of our police recruiting test is the toughest in country. On top of that I have several upstanding friends who would make terrific officers and passed the physical but were turned away for things such as admitting to illegally downloading mp3s on the polygraph and for coming across as unconfident during an interview.

Maybe that's the problem, both guys would honestly be great cops yet they're turned away for petty mistakes. Two less good cops on the force.

I see you are in Madison, that explains a lot!

If you want to be an officer in Tulsa, you can't even fill out an application without a Bachelors degree from a 4 year university.

I can't believe it's not like this in other parts of the country.

I believe I'm madder than mrsleeve now. Some of the latest. Not sure I like the sources of these comments, but they seem to be accurate.

            From: http://lewrockwell.com/grigg/grigg-w214.html

Storie insisted that if the Guerena family had permitted the armed intruders into their home, those inside "probably … wouldn’t have been arrested." This is because the "warrant was not directed at any particular person, and Guerena’s home was not mentioned, but it was targeting whoever might be inside the residence...."

That is to say that this was not a legitimate search warrant, under the requirements imposed by the Fourth Amendment (and expressly incorporated in Arizona law through the state constitution). The instrument used as supposed justification for the armed assault was akin to the "writs of assistance" used by British soldiers during the years leading up to the American colonial rebellion.

            From: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/0..._n_867020.html

The alternate explanation -- and I think the more plausible one -- is that Guerena thought the men breaking into his home were criminals, but held his fire until he was sure. (That's also the mark of someone well-trained in gun safety, and a stark contrast to the SWAT team, which despite never receiving hostile fire, unleashed a barrage of bullets that penetrated not only Jose Guerena but, according to sources I spoke with, also the walls of neighboring homes.)

I note also Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg's rhetorical question in her minority dissent of the SCOTUS decision emasculating the Fourth Amendment:“How ‘secure’ do our homes remain if police, armed with no warrant, can pound on doors at will and, on hearing sounds indicative of things moving, forcibly enter and search for evidence of unlawful activity?”

Both sources above go into more detail describing the inconsistencies in the police statements. It really sickens me. Whatever the outcome, I hope justice will be done.

NO You are not, after reading that and 1 link from the Prez favored news source (which you would think would be on the side of the govt thugs)

I am seething, couple that with the article in the USA today about how car emissions are killing 2200 people a year and I need to get some nitroglycerin pills

The more I read about this the more I get pissed. These asshole Pima County sheriff's officers/swat team found 1 bag of pot, in 4 houses. 1 bag of pot, hell I could find 1 bag of pot in 1 bedroom in the frat houses near by at U of A and wouldn't have to kill anyone.

60 fucking shots later, jesus christ.

What's up with the guy in the back that just leans over everyone with his pistol and starts firing?

Talk about some guys desperate to get their gun off.
