Non City Dwellers, this is kinda scarry

This sounds more like a general central economic planning and taking over and means of more control over all us rural people. The feds are wanting to come in and turn tinytown PoP. 350 into detroit

good god this shit is getting bad, the progressives and BHO strike again. More scary writing on the walls in this.

    1st tiny bit
Section 1. Policy. Sixteen percent of the American population lives in rural counties. Strong, sustainable rural communities are essential to winning the future and ensuring American competitiveness in the years ahead. These communities supply our food, fiber, and energy, safeguard our natural resources, and are essential in the development of science and innovation. Though rural communities face numerous challenges, they also present enormous economic potential. The Federal Government has an important role to play in order to expand access to the capital necessary for economic growth, promote innovation, improve access to health care and education, and expand outdoor recreational activities on public lands.

To enhance the Federal Government's efforts to address the needs of rural America, this order establishes a council to better coordinate Federal programs and maximize the impact of Federal investment to promote economic prosperity and quality of life in our rural communities.

Sec. 2. Establishment. There is established a White House Rural Council (Council).

Sec. 3. Membership. (a) The Secretary of Agriculture shall serve as the Chair of the Council, which shall also include the heads of the following executive branch departments, agencies, and offices:

          This really sounds pretty terrible.

So, let's see your angry rant about why we should continue to let small rural areas die off? Young people leave because of a lack of opportunity and no one else replaces them.

A 350 person town to Detroit, it's really mind boggling the leaps of logic you will allow to exagerate your point.

To visit the Politics and Religion subforum is to secure the chin-strap of my tin foil hat and wrap up in my favorite space blanket.

A lot of people in this country would like to think that the US govt. officials wake up in the morning and think "How can we screw the American citizens today?" . Sure, there have been some shady cover-ups in the past, but I genuinely believe that the elected officials are making a sincere effort to keep things running smoothly here. Business managers don't want to give lay-offs to their workers, but they are just trying to do what they can to keep the boat afloat. There is never a decision where everybody wins, only decisions where a smaller proportion of people are disadvantaged, and when the Foil Hat Society catches wind of those topics, man oh man Obama becomes an African-born Muslim who confides with the devil himself!

              And I'm a Republican.

What exactly do you think the Government is going to do about that?

obviously, they are going to institute a police state in rural areas and force the young people to stay there and work the lands!

So first you complain that the farming subsidies are completely out of whack, then you complain about them setting up offices to more closely monitor the cause and effect of how they are spending money to keep the farms alive in a time when extreme commercialization has made the average small farm unable to compete.

^ You don't get it, he is ranting about ANY gov interference.

Their job is to supply a form of backed monetary transfer for goods/services, to supply the needs of a military, and to secure the borders of the nation. That's really about it, everything else should be run on a state level. You can't expect some group to have any success applying laws in a blanket form, when each state has a different makeup and group of needs.

I understand the libertarian position, and for the most part I agree. But that position does't work across the board.

Wanting to preserve distributed farmland is just plain a good idea in case shit hits the fan. Obviously we'd want them functioning in a self-profiting way to the best of their ability.
