Ron Paul and Barney Frank to introduce legislation to legalize Marijuana.....

It has no chance in hell of passing, but I wish it would.

The war on drugs has failed and continue to fails. It's beyond humorous that people can't see the direct link between Prohibition and the War on Drugs.

Legalize it, regulate it and tax the shit out of it, just like alcohol/cigarettes.

And use the billions of dollars in man power on something important.

Good. I hope a shocking level of support comes in like a left hook and pressures even the frumpiest of senators to vote for it.

No matter how much proof there is that shows Marijuana is safer than cigarettes & alcohol, its just a waste of time & money to push legalization.

Imagine how much less MJ would cross the border. Even if you taxed the shit out of it, prices would drop hard.

The waste of time and money is in persecuting and locking up non-violent drug offenders.

Things that come to mind, the court system makes so much money keeping people in drug court limbo. Do you think the Law Enforcement Complex/For-Profit Prison System is willing to give up that cash cow without sending their lobbyists in to help defeat this?

Until MJ has a national voice that isn't the stereotype loser stoner, there is no chance it will be legalized.

Ignorance is bliss and a large portion of this countries population refuses to believe there are many normal users who are going to continue to use whether it becomes legalized or not.

The problem there is that the most straight-faced citizens that are regular marijuana users are afraid to come out of the woodworks to support such a movement at the risk of losing their jobs/careers and possibly being looked down in general society.

Good point. And there's always that pesky fact that MJ is an entrance drug. Which even I have a problem with....but if it's legalized, I wonder if it would stop being an entrance drug. At least not nearly as much.

It's not a pesky fact. It's not a gateway drug any more than beer is.

You're kidding yourself if you don't think it's a gateway drug (I forgot the correct term). Not only does it teach people how to contact those who sell illegal drugs but it's not like MJ is an industry of it's own with pushers that don't sell other drugs as well.

So it's a gateway drug BECAUSE it's illegal. How is this an argument against legalizing it?? :finger:

                            Ever smoked or bought Marijuana?

If you have from a "reputable" person of any sort when it comes to it, you'd realize that it's less of a gateway drug than alcohol. Most decent pot 'dealers' are 'specialized' in marijuana because it's their hobby/passion/relaxation and most that I know, don't really make money off of what they sell. They just get enough to purchase more and continue to supply their friends that hang out. Honestly, it's not a gateway drug.

Less? In most cases you're correct in who sells MJ. But that doesn't cover the entire industry. Many jump straight into the harder drugs, others use MJ dislike it and look for something else. Or use it till they find something that gives them a heavier sensation. Usually because they know the wrong people.
I'm for legalizing it but I refuse to ignore the facts.

This can go on forever, let's move on. Many think it is many think it isn't.
