Buy our shit from the US and Canada and what is made in your home country as much as you can. its all you can do. Unfortunately its driven by 99% of people wanting the cheapest shit possible regardless if you can service it or if it lasts more than the 90 day warranty.
Vote with your money and who you buy shit from, it wont stop them, but if enough of you are doing that, it may slow them down a whileThe American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

Well, that's a lovely idea but, it ignores reality.
We cant avoid buying Chinese goods. Trade liberalisation policy since the '80s has killed local manufacturing, so there are very few locally made products, and those that remain are under such pressure that wages have plummeted to the point where your products are no longer affordable to the great unwashed.
Further more, why should we feel any responsibility to buy US or EU goods when your Govt tariffs our exports to the moon and subsidises your farmers up the wazoo?
This is the reality of international trade relations outside of your country. And what happens to other relations once China surpasses US trade importance?<This is the really interesting question.sigpicComment

It's actually incredibly difficult to buy american anymore.. it takes a lot of research to find the most basic of things.sigpic

we have the very same issues here at home too. As far as our farmers, I totally agree with you. Speaking of subsiding farmers, was it not OZ a few years ago that was subsiding the living shit outta corn for ethanol fuel, and drove your corn based goods way off the charts???? Dont feel bad we are doing the same thing in this country too.Well, that's a lovely idea but, it ignores reality.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't recall spikes in corn prices. I'm under the impression that most Aussie ethanol is made from sugar cane(?). They subsidise that heavily.we have the very same issues here at home too. As far as our farmers, I totally agree with you. I've never understood the whole subsidising biofuels bullshit myself.
But meh, I grow corn in the backyard myself ha.sigpicComment

As far buying locally made, we attempt to do that where we can and we try to buy local produce (we should try harder) where we can also, but you end up pissing in the wind against a tide of cheap crap from asia and a population who are too stupid to realise themselves.
PS, I did buy a John Deer mower, made in the US and tough as old boots. Probably should have bought a local one, but wasn't aware there was such a thing ha.sigpicComment
