    Alright Cali, seriously....WTF?

    Seriously....?

Jesus Tapdancing Christ....What the fuck goes on in your heads out there!?

"At the end of the day, if we're going to continue as a powerful, equal-opportunity society, we're going to have to invest in our people," Brown, a Democrat, said at the signing ceremony in the library of a Los Angeles community college.
That's "our people".....since when were illegal immigrants "our people''?

    Discuss.

Beyond some cynical shit you will never know what goes on in cali's politicians' heads.

Take out the illegal part of what you quoted and it could make more sense.

The issue is using tax payer money for someone who is not a legal, tax paying citizen.

illegal immigrants would gladly pay taxes in exchange for citizenship.....

and this country would fall flat on its face without them.

im pretty sure the native americans considered the europeans illegal immigrants.

Wouldn't most of them just get it all back in the form of a tax return though?

                      But.
This is privately funded. Not publicly funded (As in, This isn't funded by taxpayer dollars)
Or did you miss that part.

If you throw the argument at me about it being a tax write off for those who fund it.

                      Fuck
                      Cares

If you truly want to invoke that argument, I feel sorry for you as a human being with ZERO compassion for another human being just trying to make their dreams come true and gain equality in a system that is so against equality it's insane (Both Mexico, AND The US).

They wouldn't have to illegally immigrate, if there was a system in place (Not by the extremely corrupt mexican government), that would ALLOW it to be affordable to a mexican.

But this is a really, REALLY stupid comment.....

I'm not saying this is whole thing the best solution. But it sure isn't the worst idea.

Yep, I didn't read the article. BUT our nations universities and colleges are partly funded by tax payers to begin with.

Thought this might interest those watching the state higher-ed budget. A new report announced today by the American Institutes for Research (AIR) and Nexus Research and Policy Center (Nexus) claims to be the first to determine whether states and taxpayers are getting a fair return for their higher-ed tax dollars. The main findings: Taxpayer subsidies…

So while the scholarship may be privately funded, the majority of someone's education is still subsidized by the tax payers.

And actually you'll see if you compare those numbers, it doesn't look like we the tax payers get a good deal on subsidizing higher education. If the tax payers avg $60k in subsidies for $50k in increased revenue for public universities.

Although I would argue that is mainly due to nothing being done about tuition that constantly increases at 2-4x the rate of inflation.

                            The word is "illegal"

Fuck 'em if they're not supposed to be here. Jesus Christ. If I do illegal shit I get in trouble. Why does that not apply to EVERYONE, EQUALLY?

It's not about anyone being "less of a person." Honestly, if they want to come, let them....legally. Mexicans have been surpassed my Indians (from India, not Native Americans) in illegal immigration to the US, so it's not about hating a certain "type" of people. It's not about turning people away, it's about actually following the law and doing things the right way.

The statement about the Native Americans thinking of Europeans as "illegal immigrants" isn't really relevant, but is in some ways. Sure, they found out what happens when you don't control immigration, but then again, they had the same amount of time on this earth to develop weapons and society the same as that on the Eurasia continent. They were inferior in technology, and thus were conquered by a more advanced society. That's the way the world works. They didn't have the means to keep people from Europe out.

Anywho....back on point....the word here is ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT. If the "il" part weren't in there, I'd be in favor of this, but this is like rewarding people to do wrong. Why don't I get a scholarship when I get caught trespassing? We don't reward breaking the law. Immigration had laws, and they broke them. This just shows more of them that if they can make it here, they get a reward. There is a reason we control immigration. If we didn't we'd have all of the world (except the Middle East, of course) piled into the area between California and New York.
