    How much better ???

    Farb
been house hunting lately. and work called me (at 5:30 am my time) today and informed me that my project has been pushed back again......... yeah hoarding cash at the moment, also have put my .338Lm project on hold for a good while too.

mayhaps I should clarify that statement a touch, I cant seem to justify to the satisfaction of the little woman that I "need" such a pricy accessory for my toys when we are house shopping. I then point out and ask why she needs a 450 dollar purse and I then have to for go sex for a while.

Mine is the YHM Stainless 5.56. I got it from a well known dealer as a demo. Had 100 rounds fired though it during demo. I got the can along with the quick detach for $600 including the stamp. I have it in a trust that cost me $50 for the software at Best Buy.

I know last time we spoke he had a really nice 7.62 can he was trying to get me into. I could use it for my FAL and my AK as well as my 5.56. IF I were to do it again I would go with the 7.62 can for that reason alone.

If he still has it, Im sure he would let it go for just a bit more than what I got mine for. He is a dealer so it would come Form3 and not have to pay the tax 2 times. You would get it from your local dealer on a Form4.

The Federal Reserve finally abandoned its ambiguous 'extended period' language Tuesday, indicating it plans to keep rates 'exceptionally low' for at least two more years.

Gold has nearly trippled since quantitive easing began.. I'm betting another double in 2 years.

QE 1 and 2 both devalue the dollar relative to foreign currencies and commodities

in theory, but we've been in an extremely deflationary enviroment since lehman brothers. If inflation had been out of control, you'd have a better argument.

actually, gold responds to a variety of factors, inflation being only one. it certainly responds to the fed debasing our currencey.

btw - if inflation today was measured with the same input it was in the 70's/80's, inflation would be close to 8%. just like unemployment, if was measured the same way we'd have close to 17% unemployed.

Do you have a link that shows the changes in the calculations that factor into these percentages? Nothing to do with doubt, I just wanna see what's changed.

You can't compare gold to housing bubbles or land. The biggest strenth of gold is size/value and the fact that you can easily chop it up into pieces.
So lets say all the markets take a huge plunge or even the monetary system fails. Your 500,000$ house/land, 100,000$ car and 50,000$ paintings aren't worth insect shit. Need to flee the country? Can you take that crap with you? Will an Aston Martin rim buy you a loaf of bread? Borders and languages aren't a hurdle for gold.
That's the strength of gold, and has been for thousands of years.

And of couse physical bars. Never would I buy virtual gold, even if the broker put his penis stamp on the certificate or whatever worthless crap it is they give you.

Ron Paul just spoke on this subject and I would have to agree with him...

Ron Paul: "Gold Is Not A Bubble"

                          video here...

"What's happening today and what I see is such a serious thing is I think what we're dealing with is the end of the dollar reserve standard. That's a worldwide phenomenon. It's not just for the United States, just think of how many dollars we've exported. How many people hold dollars. If this dollar is in big trouble, which is what I think is the problem, I mean this is not just a minor problem. This is probably a bigger problem than the world has faced before. Never has been a fiat currency been used as a reserve standard as so pervasively around the world. And there's not many other places to go, even though Treasury bills but eventually they're going to give up. I mean, just ooh what's happening to the Swiss Franc. So there's not much left other than commodities, you know, and real values. Actually, I think that is what is going to happen but it is going to reflect the devaluation of the dollar," Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX)

On another note, Credit Rating Agency Moodys just announced that several states and local governments are facing credit rating downgrades.

So you'd rather bet on those "economists" that said gold can't go past 1500 / 1600 / 1650 until they finally realized they're preaching absolute nonsense?
