It's no worse than what that Union has done to the terminal.

The other Union (701) has joined in the law suit with the port. That basically means the port didn't (for whatever reason) like working with ILWU. And it's being done to stall long enough to get their way.

But the damage to the property is totally unacceptable. Along with the actions of those members.

US courts don't operate as quickly as your post implies. Down here a large corporation can tie something up for decades before any litigation gets under way. Relying on the courts, even if successful, won't bring the jobs back after the fact.

I'm sure you've heard of numerous similar kinds of things where corporations make calculations about how much exposure they face compared to following the law. Break the law, make tons of money, pay the fines, profit regardless.

Narrow down what? You ignore things for which you have no retort, hence your typical deflection.

Got a link handy about 701 joining the suit? This whole thing interests me, I wanna read more.

It's interesting I suppose, but it doesn't mean what he's interpreting from their actions. All it really means is they are getting jobs so they are siding with the people giving them jobs. Clearly they aren't going to sue against getting jobs...whatever else is going on!

His logic is difficult to track so I'm just going to close my eyes when he posts in this thread and throw a dart--makes about as much sense.

              Enjoy being a brokedick!

What the fuck do you think! Why aren't I bitching about the fact Sleeve is in the Union and gets paid well? Let me know when you make the connection. In the mean time your emotions are controlling your words.

...and I'm far from broke. Those stories are from years ago. More of your emotion talking.

It's in the link you linked. At the very bottom.
Which is somewhat surprising. A Union trying to fuck the other Union over.

I'm an idiot because I am part of a Union?...good logic. Actually work is a right when you have jurisdiction and a contract in place for the next 7 years. You do know what a contract is right? Those members probably will get in trouble but they knew that going into it. They believe they are protecting Union jobs and they are! Like I said, people have died for our freedom in this country and people have died for good paying jobs. They are willing to fight for what they believe in. How you guys can hate on that is beyond me.

Big business disputes aren't a walk in the park and aren't easily settled in courts. Let's not be naive. Shipping is big business in the Global economy. Things often get ugly and it's bigger than you know. You can't always believe what you read in the media. What was actually an employer lock out in 2001 was publicized as a Union strike. So you can watch TV and say "those greedy Unions just want more and more." When in actuality, the employer is constantly trying to take away benefits, cut pay, cut jobs, automate and what the Union is doing is trying to KEEP what we have. For instance, the supermarket workers who are in negotiations. The employers want them to pay for their own medical care now. Well if you do the math and convert that to dollars, that's like asking someone who makes $30K a year to take a pay cut down to about $22K. It's a big game but people's livelihoods are at stake.
