Last night I watched a doco (MY BROTHER THE ISLAMIST, Google it if you want to see some) about a man who’s step brother had become an extremist Muslim. This documentary has real changed my views on Muslims and wanted to get your opinion on the religious group. I myself am a very open person and before last night I truly believed that most Muslims are nice people. Now I don’t know if I have been brain washed by the news but this doc really changed my view on them. Obviously this is only a small group but they why these people seemed to have no compassion for anyone and are willing to blow them self’s up so to speak, is somewhat scary. Especially when you think of places like Pakistan where it would be easy for these extremists to preach and convert the masses. What are your thoughts?

If you use firefox it has a built in spell checker. How do you think I am able to make posts that others can read??? I am a terrible speller.

Every religion has its group(s) of fanatics. Just because the media chooses to focus on Muslims that have isolated, unpopular views, it doesn't mean that they are in any way representative of the religion they use as an excuse for their actions.

Islam is a violent religion if one agrees with many passages in the Koran. But then again, so is any faith that takes the Old Testament literally. It's the followers who decide what to filter form their religious text. The extremists will say the pacifists are not true to their religion, and in some ways they are correct.sigpicComment

I believe the moderates do speak out, but get no coverage. MSM loves a fire, but seldom speaks much of those who put it out, so to speak...
There's also that icky 1st Amendment thing, so us moderates can't exactly go after ol' Fred and his ilk with torches, axes and pitchforks.....
But consider: the Muslim Middle East was one of the most vibrant and innovative cultures until a distrust of science coupled with religious extremism took hold. Not so different than what is happening under our noses as we speak. Fortunately, America seems to not be as backward, but I'm not so sure.Comment
