      Christians had their Crusades

Muslims have to have their time in the spotlight.

Nice to see those that are anti-religion showing tolerance, respect and understanding in this thread. Or maybe they are just anti-Christianity, not anti-religion.

I'm muslim and I'm from Pakistan. I dont know any extremist and i personally think its retarded to blow yourself up for that. Sure its gooing to be good. Suicide = Hell in Islam, so why would blowing yourself up make you go to heaven?

I am totally in the anti-religion camp.

There's not a single solitary shred of actual evidence that "god" exists. Religion, in my opinion, is a completely man-made attempt at explaining the world of millennia past, and should have run its course by now. That's not to say the church does no good, but attending church is certainly not a requirement for doing good in your community.

Historically, as a people becomes more and more educated, their need to explain things with invisible beings declines. But there will always be adherents.

Religion is a way for people to control other people through scare tactics. Churches are businesses. A real pastor shouldn't be paid. He should be led by the "spirit" to serve.

Religion is there to make $$. Look at the Catholic Church. If they spent half of what they used to build all that shit they could make a real difference helping people around the world.

SRS...religion is a tool used to control the population. This is why I do not religion. I think for myself and draw my own conclusions based on my experiences. My conscience guides me. Not a person who is paid to tell me what to do based on a book written two thousand years ago. Sure, there are good lessons within it, but then again, I've always been a more Old Testament kinda guy, eye for an eye.

Nutshell: "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ." - Mohandas Gandhi

I was not commenting on the existence of God.

Think about it this way. There are over one billion Muslims so what % are radical? 10-15,20% thats still a shit load of crazies.

That said, I have a good friend who is Iranian and devoutly muslim, prob the one of the coolest guys i know, and as far as I can tell, he's got all the right morals. He also denounces the extremists that they are using Islam to their own means.

So in conclusion, Muslim =/= evil, but Muslim extremists = evil.
