I'd love a hands-on job, but not like that!

Lots of possible paths for a tradesmen to make a good living, and people will only be more dependent on them in the future, because most don't know how to fix anything.

Problem would be the pay cut to start over.

Agreed, 4-7k/month is no laughing matter if you can do without having a life for most of the month.

That sounds flabbergasting, hopefully I can get to somewhere like that soon, I haven't seen any opportunities like that in this area except maybe for the train companies.

I take it you guys don't have kids. If you have no family, friends or geographical attachments it's easy as shit to find work, like Sleeve said. But I don't think that applies to many people that are unemployed. For many people, moving to oil rigs in Texas or farms in Georgia is not evan an option. It's easy to imagine yourself in that position and how you would handle it, but that doesn't mean the choices you would make will work for everyone else.

Actually that's the main reason I am not currently down in Texas already ;)

                      ^^
YES IT IS, Your expenses are paid for while your working in most cases either via perdiems, or the company picking up all the tabs for you other than your entertainment. you throw your shit in a suit case and off you go, to do what you have to do to pay your bills. It sucks ass yes, but it beats sitting around waiting for someone else to take care of you. No one will take care of you better than your self and you have to make your own way in life, no one is going to do it for you. Time to man up, times like will separate the wheat from the chaff, and make a man outta you if your so inclined to make your own way.

I have family, friends, pets, and life and love where I live..(in fact my boss has been after me for years to move near the shop and work year round and been home almost every night. I turn that down every time with out thought because of my geographical attachment ) that I dont see much of, but I sure as hell dont have to worry about where my next meal is coming from, or if I can make the rent next month, Like most everyone I know outside of my line of work in my personal life, that are 3 months from being homeless at any given time (if the govt dose not force the banks to let them live in their homes with out paying for them for years anyway ). I am a good 3 years ahead Plus in liquidity plus my retirement vehicles,

Nothing good in life comes easy or with out sacrifice and hard work, I think that is what has been lost on the OWS crowd and most of todays youth even including many in my generation (early 30's) and even older yet.
