Don't forget that the army that would be supposedly attacking us is made up of our own people. So the idea is that they would just mindlessly attack their own families because the government tells them to. I could see a small percentage who might have a general lack of regard for society might go along with it but I have to hope that the vast majority would use logic and common sense and not participate in this.

Worked very well in the US during the red scare, it can work just as well again if not better because society is far more selfish now.

It's just a matter of cleverly setting up the situation. Nothing gets a crowd more riled up than an enthusiastic "us vs. them" speech.

^This....People, especially the young ones are way too attached to their handheld, carry-all, information devices to have them taken away. I am personally suspect of anyone who depends on/swears by them too much. They are the ones that make me nervous, the potential double-agents/insiders. Call me crazy, but I think they would give up all personal freedom so they can keep these things. I can atm survive daily life w/o an iPhone-like device.
