Farm work and fast food work are done by illegals for a reason, no one wants to do it.
If there weren't any illegals doing the work, those industries would simply pay higher wages to legitimate workers. I would shovel shit for the right amount of money.

It just dawned on me. Cheap illegal immigration contributed to the housing bubble and the subsequent economic mess we are in.

I'm just kind of curious how much money an hour are you wanting before you shovel shit?

Since I am still a young and relatively inexperience worker, I might do it for 30 bucks an hour. I think 30 bucks an hour is about what an electrician with a few years under his belt makes (I could be wrong). Shoveling shit is a low skill job but this evens out with it's hazardous nature. I would also need excellent health benefits.

          And you are delusional!

There is no skill in this job other than having a strong back and stomach. Electricians have schooling and have to go though a mentor program before they are a licensed electrician.

Shoveling shit pays along the same as flipping burgers. NO SKILL!

If that was the only job out there and you turned it down. You should also be turned down for any benefits from any government agency in regards to assistance. Dont like it, come up with your own source of income!

This has nothing to do with skill. Shoveling shit is much more hazardous than flipping burgers. If shoveling shit pays the same as flipping burgers than it's no wonder illegals are doing this sort of work because employers aren't compensating legitimate workers enough.

Garbage men are low skill workers but they make decent money because it is a dirty and hazardous job.

Like a said your schpeal is exactly that; your reality is not everyone's reality. This isn't about the pussification of america and unrealistic dreams. Truth of the matter is you can not survive on minimum wage and you know this, hence why welfare and jobless benefits are higher than minimum wage. Have you seen how many illegal immigrants live, they live a substandard living than the normal american. No American is going to accept this, this isn't swallowing pride this is America's superior attitude. The superior attitude from time to time is gonna bite you in the ass. Illegal immigration is not the downfall of this country its just an easy out when everything else is wrong.

Illegal immigrants can have the no skill jobs.

America is about survival of the fittest. Not everyone can drive a Rolls and have a 10k sqft house. If you dont like your situation work had and get out of it. IF that means 2 jobs washing dishes, then so be it. As a business owner I still do the jobs "no one else" would do, because its what I got to do.

I don't disagree with that but reality is our society does not view in that.

i get tipped damn well, and i dont avg 30/hr... at best during the week its 25 or so.

(pretty good for semi part time hours tho)

the country's youth is pretty jaded :/

So when done with discussion because you don't agree, you attack now? I'm not a troll who sits here arms folded saying nah nah nah, but it sure comes off like you are. My background is very blue collar, I'm educated with a blue collar degree, and work a blue collar career. But I don't sit and think this countries problems are simply solved just by simple "pulling our boots by our straps", "blaming the illegals", and "hard work solves everything"... Simple sayings do solve some problems; simple sayings are also for simple people. You know this is complex ordeal our country is going through; your smarter than that. We have spoiled people, but for good reasons. Because our country has had a lot success and country will continue to.

In our country, being on welfare and the benefits that come with afford a higher standard of living then living off minimum wage. In some states you can have both welfare benefits and make minimum wage but others the paper and hassle don't allow that. For example when I was student and needed medical insurance because I took out student loans but making minimum wage doing farm labor I couldn't qualify for government aid for health care or food stamps to help support myself. This fact alone for many people would make them say screw it and go sit on there lazy ass; I didn't because I had pride. But I was raised with pride, not everyone is taught this.
