No, we are hitting it. Its just a shitty point. Party because an apprentice electrician doesn't make $30 an hour and the $18 an hour (PW) they typically make is dependent on the value they create. You guys are missing the point. I only said 30 an hour because I thought that might be about what an apprentice electrician makes and I think shoveling shit should make a comparable wage because of its hazardous nature. I was also only trying to illustrate the fact that if illegal immigration stopped, the jobs would not simply stop getting done, but the wages would just increase to accommodate documented workers.
Shoveling shit doesn't bring $30 an hour of value to anyone, which is why its an $8/hr job. Someone will shovel the shit, if needed or the shit just doesn't get made (a change in exterior conditions).
You may think its not worth doing until its worth $30/hr and that is fine. But I feel that you then have the right to starve to death if you don't find an alternative. Its not our responsibility to sustain you while you hold out for management. Probably the biggest issue with the millennials, they were raised thinking they were special and that "everyone is a winner" when they get out they have to realize that they are not special and there can be only one winner of any given competition. No C student is a winner, a C student just gets by and the lower graded students should be shoveling the shit.Im now E30less.

And I am more than pretty sure you are wrong. Total compensation is above that but if we are talking about gross income prevailing wage (the govt mandated wage for bid projects) averages around $18 for an apprentice.
I know because its how I paid my way through college.Im now E30less.

Any one else find it ironic the guy trying to argue here is the guy that on a whim can drag up and go to south america just for the fuck of it for 5 weeks???
Not to say its not a great experiance and he should have passed it up. I mean if you able then by all means. What the fuck does this even mean? I worked 60 hours a week in shitty weather and hazardous conditions for an asshole boss so that I could pay for myself to travel on what amounts to a shoestring budget. Through my own choices I have kept myself out of debt by not buying brand new cars and signing shitty mortgages and knocking up some random bitch and being forced to raise a child. I have made GOOD choices so don't knock me for not buying into the "American Dream".Any one else find it ironic the guy trying to argue here is the guy that on a whim can drag up and go to south america just for the fuck of it for 5 weeks???

And the only reason I was talking about shoveling shit in the first place was to make a point about how if illegal immigration stop completely, the jobs would still need to get done and therefore wages for those jobs would rise.Comment

Of course they would but nothing near what you are saying it would cost for you to do that job. And I dont hate for you saying that specifically as I wouldnt want to go shovel shit for $30/hr because it would be a pay cut to do harder work. But being said if I was hard up I would expect to be required to do it if it mean eating.Im now E30less.

Apprentice electricians in this area make about 19hr. I've known more than one of them.Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Well good you earned you trip thats great, I am sorry you had to do something you didnt like to get something you wantedWhat the fuck does this even mean? I just found it ironic that someone wanting 30 bucks an hour to shovel stalls, can afford to drag up from their job and take a long south american vacation on a whim is all.
You talk like 60 hours a week is a lot, I wont leave the house for less than that (unless I really really have to) Shitty conditions and an ass hole boss, sounds like a average construction job to me, toughen up there a little Susie. Its called life, and when you have done that for most of your life then maybe you can bitch. You have to start somewhere and that should be the bottom, you dont walk into a good job or ideal situation, sure some get lucky and hey good for them. The rest have to work for it and prove them selves,
I bet your boss would not have been that bad too you if you would have stuck around and made him a good hand and not just drag up when you have had enough. I know thats how I do it, I get guys I know are not going to make it past a week maybe 2 the 1st day they show up on a job. Those guys are nothing more than warm body and heartbeat I need for the job. Guys that want to be there and learn and advance them selves I will go way outta my way to teach, and protect and cut them some slack when they fuck up.The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.

I am a firm believer that if you play your cards right, you can bypass all this voluntary slavery bullshit that you seem to think is the only path through life. You sir have bought into the system hook line and sinker.Well good you earned you trip thats great, I am sorry you had to do something you didnt like to get something you wanted

h0lmes: I totally agree with the bold, the thing is we disagree on how to go about arriving there it seems, I will explain.
How do you say that I have bought into it hook line and sinker?? I have no mortgage, I refuse to sign one, as they are one of the most evil wealth stripping mechanisms ever devised and legalized.
I have not had children for a host of reasons, mostly because it would not be fair to them.
I work my ass off and have started from the bottom to get where I am to day. I own everything I have, not the bank. When I buy/build my next home it Will be with cash that I have saved over years of working.
I have worked hard to pull my self up by my boot straps to get where I am, and am well on my way to being eternally free of "voluntary slavery" as you put it, to my lenders. No one has ever handed me anything other than a chance to prove myself, I have made my own way in life, despite being told by everyone that you will never succeed. Yes I make sacrifices, hard ones but nothing good ever comes easy, and this is the crux of the main discussion in this thread.
You and those that seem to hold similar ideals want all the reward with out all the work, sacrifice, blood, sweat, tears, broken bones, aches, pains, stress, and hardship that are the dues that have to be paid for true success and wisdom. For if not you really didnt earn any of it now did you?? Some have better results than others and that is the real price of freedom, something you seem to understand somedays and waver with on other days.Last edited by mrsleeve; 12-24-2011, 04:12 PM.The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money. -Alexis de TocquevilleOriginally posted by FusionIf a car is the epitome of freedom, than an electric car is house arrest with your wife titty fucking your next door neighbor.
