What I love about politics...is the idea some people have that there are honest politicians. No joke - some people actually believe that some of our politicians care about US.

Instead, if you look at political policy as a whole, you quickly see that the United States has a two party system. These two party's are properly called the "take their money" party, and the "take their freedom" party. Some politicians belong to both parties.

Seriously - if you made it a requirement that all elected officials were drawn from a pool of serial rapists or child molesters our country would probably run a little better and more honestly.

How is that possible grounds for being able to sue? And how can you possibly prove that is why you weren't hired? It's just more anti-business BS from the Obama admin.

That's the point, the bill makes it possible grounds.

You already made aware that you don't like the issue, but I'm asking for your rationale for why you are opposed to someone suing someone for discriminating against their employment status if they can prove it.

        Will you explain your reasoning?

Next they'll defend Gov. Christie's fractured history lesson re. the Civil Rights Movement. (i.e. putting up to a popular vote whether to extend civil rights to minorities in the 1960's!) Christie was talking about a same-sex marriage proposal (correctly labelling it as a civil rights issue oddly enough) and said that it should be put to a vote in NJ. Advancements in civil rights have been legislated -- not voted into existence. Can you imagine Mississippi voting FOR the civil rights bill in the 1960's?? Hell no, you can't.

Because, how would someone prove it? It would turn into another way to shake down employers.

In other words, "Great, we will pay this guy some money to go away vs going to court in a he said vs she said battle."

And that's exactly what would start happening, because small business owners (the largest employer base in the country) couldn't afford to go to court because someone wasn't hired. More importantly, businesses should be able to hire who they wish, instead of filling quotas.

I do put a tremendous amount of thought into my political positions - that's why my statement comes out in the manner it does. When you hold most of today's political theory up against the standard of enriching or destroying freedom, things become so much simpler... And you find that neither political party has any credit anymore.

War on terror? Nope. War on freedom that we really hope some terrorists get caught up in.

War on drugs? Nope. War on freedom we really hope some drug runners get caught up in.

I could go on, but you either understand the idea of freedom - the freedom to do as you please with your hard earned gains so long as another isn't injured - or you don't. And most people who don't understand freedom as a concept are willfully ignoring it because they are too busy using the government to injure others for their own gain.

                        vectorsc,

Just so I understand your position:
I hear you saying that you think concern and legislation about discrimination in the market is only from people who fail to understand the concept of freedom?

The idea that you can sue someone for not hiring you for any reason is definitely counter to the idea of freedom. In fact, the phrase "Hell Yes" was what went through my mind.

Here is a fairly simple to understand example - a person walks up to your door at 1 am and says he's cold - let him in. This person has someone's severed head in their left hand and informs you that he'd have one in his right hand, but that's his "molesting" hand.

You don't let him in...he sues you and in the court system where "the people's" interests are represented, he WINS. And then you get to ask Molesty the Clown to let you in to what used to be your house because it's cold out.

Please, everyone, take a moment to say thanks for living in a country that is rushing to make it illegal to discriminate against someone based on ANYTHING!

That's not anything close to reality so there's really not much to discuss in response to it. As soon as you educate yourself on the realities involved in this issue I'll discuss it with you.

Except in California it's illegal not to hire child molesters for any job not directly related to children. So you want to run that "unrealistic ignoramus" line up the flagpole again?
