A double-mandate tends to work this issue out. The small percentage of chronically ill patients are balanced with the large population of healthy ones.

So the question the SC had to tackle today was if the individual mandate portion is struck down, does that mean the whole bill should be struck down? There are a myriad of good things in there that have nothing to do with the individual mandate. If the entire bill gets struck down, a million people will immediately lose insurance coverage.
      Thoughts?

No because the benefits from Oboma-care has not taken effect yet. So they are out nothing.

Coverage on parents' plan until 26 was effective almost immediately. It resulted in just over a million youth becoming insured.

Uh, yeah it has. While the mandate is not in effect until 2014 there are many parts of the bill in effect right now such as coverage to thousands of people between ages 18 and 26 who can still ride under their parent's insurance. Kill the bill and those people get dropped. That's one example of many. There are also tons of things effecting the insurance companies right now that would totally fuck them (and us) if the bill was repealed.

Now they get to deliberate for three months on it. One can change their mind when they have time to think on it.

I'm surprised no one has pointed out the ineptitude of people like Ginsburg.

Hilarious to listen to a Supreme Court Justice not even understand the precedent of previous Supreme Court cases and how they would apply to the healthcare law.

Look up the wickard wheat case of 1942.
