did you read the article at all or are you just trolling? because you are posting statements that were answered. what i expected was a counter statement, not a herpderp.

Look, I get it. You worked your nuts off to start a business (or get your MBA or become a lawyer or whatever) so that you can finally have what you dreamed about when you were in high school: a huge swimming pool in the shape of the Van Halen logo. You obey the law, you pay your taxes. Then suddenly, this Occupy Wall Street freak show declares you to be the "one percent," and therefore the enemy. Obviously you've done nothing wrong, so their hatred must be irrational. They only hate you because you're rich!
To that, as the senior editor of a site that should goddamned well know, I can only offer one word:
    Batman.

    "That's Mr. Batman to you."
Fucking Batman. Pop culture's greatest hero. Search Cracked.com for "Batman" and 70 percent of the site comes up. Our culture loves him, and he 1) is rich as hell and 2) can only do what he does because he's rich.
Hell, let's look at the annual poll of the most admired people in America for 2011. There are 20 people on that list, and all 20 are rich enough to be in the "hated" 1 percent. I count four billionaires on that list, and another person who is a member of a billionaire family.

education can make it happen, if you are already in the right place at the right time. but i'd say it takes a lot more than just education. and being in the right place, right time can come down to pure luck.

Maybe I just don't understand the point. If it's about the stupid shit people say, than its a meaningless article. People say stupid shit in all walks of life, some privately, some get publicised. Being wealty doesn't necessarily mean he/she is going to be carefull not to hurt someones feelings. Personally, I could care less.
Or its about the wealth, but than maybe we should tell athletes to stop being so good, because the 99% of us will never be professional athletes, and that's not fair, right?

I hate when someone rants about something and doesn't take the time to offer a resolution to whatever they're ranting about.

          Cracked is awesome.

The point of the article is to explain to rich people why poorer people get upset by what they say. Nothing more, just read it for what it is and enjoy it.

The guy who created the post-it note lives 6 miles from me in a multi-million dollar house. He doesn't deserve that?
The problem is that wealth is really pretty arbitrary. There are people who gave their lives to their companies for more years than the CEOs, but who got canned just short of retirement so that a CEO could pocket more money. That's immoral, but it happens every single day.

I suppose you guys think the Sears boss is justified in his actions as well?

But in the end even if you spend 30 years with a company doing a task that anyone can be trained to do in a week, what are you really contributing to them? Sure you've been devoted to the company, but was that because you gave a shit about the billion dollar company or because it benefited you? The people at the top are there for a reason, making decisions that benefit them is part of the gig. They're the ones who make the choices which see huge profits/losses and either benefit or are hung for it.

You miss the point. If that 30 years of relative servitude was rewarded with a pension as it was 20 years ago, and the CEO didn't need to dick everyone over because he really wants to pay cash for that home in the Maldives, then everyone is a relative winner. But now, we regularly hear of CEOs who have milked the company for their short term gain and left a company and its employees in ruins. That is immoral and unethical.

Don't remember seeing any CEOs on the unemployment rolls after their actions grenaded the economy....

One of them screws up and loses their position and what happens? Do they worry about sending their kids to school or paying their mortgage?

What do they really have at risk, other than ego and prestige? Will they face bankruptcy if the business suffers? Unlikely. It isn't their money in the business! How big does their home need to be before they are "happy"..

Actually, it looks like they get a pat on the ass and a golden parachute

Again, I think running a good business smartly is worthy of reward. But the biggest reward is in providing for the greater good, not just the personal trophy shelf. It has been a struggle for hundreds of years, but we have taken steps backwards of late.

First, CEO's even though they pay into Unemployment, they can not collect unemployment. One of the disadvantages of owning your own business.

Second I am with you to an extent but the "CEO" is either elected into office or moved up in the company. No one is to blame but the share holders and/or workers if their pick for CEO went for personal gain vs the "better good"

Hurting the little guy is nothing new, and its an inherent risk when working for someone else.

                    wow, lol.

                    no.

CEOs are rarely hung for their misdoings. make the stocks go up? get a bonus. make the stocks go down? still get a bonus. obliterate the company? bonus time!
