Most teachers are at the bottom of entry scores in college, some of the lowest GPAs, etc.


The problem is, what do people expect when you aren't willing to pay for it? Same thing with journalists..........someone who could actually be good at being an objective, well-researched reporter................both of these positions typically start very low paid and stay that way.

A doctorate and 25+ years of experience is still $12,000 per year LESS than I make with a Public Relations degree.

Having the summers off isn't worth being broke.

Flip side, people aren't willing to pay high enough taxes to attract those at the top of their fields to teaching.

here in montgomery county, md, they have some of the top public schools of the nation. pay starts at 55k with a bachelors.

Also figure in that you're only working 9 months for that salary and it's not too bad either. Also, cost of living here is cheap.
