I'm not a conservative! :D
I see you guys point about the ID's/poll tax/etc..........I just don't agree with it. The Federal Gov't bans/changes laws/etc all the time for things that are a miniscule problem based on scale or number of incidents per capita.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

Federal law prohibits any form of poll tax. Therefor requiring people to have ID to vote, even if it only costs $0.01, is a poll tax. Several courts around the country have already confirmed this.
The only way for these laws not to be struck down is to make state ID free for everyone.Comment

I dont envy them one bit, but the simple fact that most of them live off the backs of the American worker. I live in an area where there are several section 8 houses. I pay $1200 a month for a small 1 bedroom apartment as they pay under $300 for the same place. They are evidently living as well as I am with out really having to do much for it. Plus they get their monthly EBT $600 a month as well as driving a much nicer car than my E30s.

Some do depends on how well they know the system. Heck for the few months I was on unemployment I was getting 2400 a month. Not Bad if you ask me.
Edit: But that is totally off subject.Comment

I have to second this. It really is rather shitty when you work all the time and barely get by because of the taxes taken out of my paycheck. Like sometimes I barely make ends meet and I live in a lower cost of living area. And here is where the real shitter is. I am at the grocery store and ran into a girl I who graduated highschool like 5 or 6 years after me. She couldnt be older than 19-20 she is standing there with her 2 year old baby and telling me how hard it is to make it by on her 300 a week for grocerys.I dont envy them one bit, but the simple fact that most of them live off the backs of the American worker. I am trying to pay for school, housing, food, gas and have to see where the taxes go stinks.sigpicComment

What's stopping a poor person or latino from getting an ID?Have you actually researched the issue? In person voter fraud simply doesn't happen. It's not a problem. All these laws do is prevent poor and minority voters from getting to vote, groups which vote overwhelmingly for Democrats. The state of Pennsylvania admitted in court (its voter ID law is being challenged) that "the parties are not aware of any incidents of in-person voter fraud in Pennsylvania." And then there's this surprisingly honest admission.Comment

How is requiring someone to show you an ID to VOTE a tax?
Ah, probably the same way BO's healthcare reform is a tax. Or is it not a tax again? I can't remember since it changes every week
I've seen "in person" voter fraud happen with my own eyes, happened a lot in college.

Are you really that dense? Here, let me explain it for you.
1. IDs cost money
2. IDs are required to vote
3. Voting therefor costs money
4. Poll taxes (fees, costs, charges, etc) are prohibited by federal law

It's even more complicated though when you dive in to it. Let's say for example that one fo these states with a voter ID law decides to make IDs free so as not to institute a "poll tax". So you go to the DMV to get your ID, but you've lost your birth certificate. A replacement can cost upwards of $100 depending on which state you're in. So even though the ID may be "free", the documents required to get that ID may not be.Comment

Then shouldn't I be able to vote from my home? It's even more complicated though when you dive in to it. If I have to travel and don't have a car or access to public transportation, how am I supposed to vote? Even with my car it costs gas, and wear and tear on my vehicle.
I get how the ID thing is "poll tax", but to me it sounds like unfounded whining.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com
