This is a biased, censored poll, just like the mainstream news censors anyone who isn't rep or dem. Only names on it are Obama and Romney. Last time I checked there is no one running for president by the name of "other". Should include Gary Johnson, Virgil Goode, and Jill Stein.

                why?

None of those people will become president in this race, unless someone assassinates Obama, Romney, or both.

What is the significance of voting for them then?

whats the significance of voting at all?!
electoral college is BS, voting is just a way for America to know your stance on politics and get an idea of who the people want to be president, but it almost has no effect on the outcome.....

voting gary johnson. call me crazy but i'd rather push for the libertarian party to truly be recognized than vote for either one of those guys. as much as i respect and admire obama as a person, his policies are fucked and he didn't follow through on a lot of what he promised in 2008. on the other hand, romney is the GOP's john kerry. no thanks

I partly agree with this. If I vote Republican in a state that clearly swings Democrat, my vote is 100% useless.

In a "fence" state or whatever you call those, my vote may be minutely less than 100% useless.

However, voting for anyone other than Obama or Romney is also 100% useless, because it is well known that one of those two will win.

Because I support johnson's ideals and the libertarian party. I certainly don't support obama/romney and the rep/dem party. I won't vote for the lesser of two evils when I don't like either and I will surely express that with my vote. I don't like a lot of things obama has done and I don't like a lot of things (read: mostly everything) the republican party has done in the past and if I vote for obama/romney my vote says I want more of the same. Mostly of the issues that concern me the most they are effectively the same on. If I vote for obama and we have him for 4 more years I would have no right to complain about what I have issues with, because I voted for it.

I guess voting for complaining rights is a good a motive as any, since you surely aren't voting for Johnson to make him president.

                              I'm not following that logic.
If that were true then your vote would be just as useless if you vote for either obama/romney unless it was so close that it came down to your state's electoral votes and your state had exactly the same number for vote for romney and obama? That would be the only way your single vote would actually make the difference between who wins.
Your vote is an expression of your opinion - your opinion on who you want to be president. As simple as that, and you can choose anyone you want, not just between two people.

That's not my motive. I'm simply voting for who I support the most. That makes sense right? Why would you vote for someone you don't support as much just because they have a better chance at winning? You don't get any reward if the person you vote for wins, unless you actually support that person. That's the logical fallacy with the idea of "voting for the lesser of two evils", no matter which of them wins you're not voting for what you really want.
