Many insurance companies have changed policy of late due to Obamacare. You can apply every 6 months and should be done every 6 months even if you think the answer is no. That is how I found out the companies changed. I applied every 6 months for 11 years. :/

well what she has got now though the state guaranteed acceptance pool is really good value, for the money, hell its cheaper than my self payments by about 30% when I run out of escrow though work (has not happened in years though). Its just only good for our home state in general, as mine is a nation wide policy.

I'm 21 but I just started college this previous spring term. I was on my parent's plan until they switched providers because our rates were jacked up. My mom didn't think anything of it and dropped our previous plan only to find out that my only option now is a high risk pool, which we can't afford.

NO I have been poor before, very poor, like I said, I did what I had to do and we went with out for a number of years, while work was scarce and what I could find paid like complete shit, to make sure we were insured, and our savings was not decimated totally .
Then you were lucky to not have anything major come up while you went without insurance. Not everyone is so lucky.

You assume too much as well. There are way too many out there that can afford to buy a policy maybe not a full boat policy to cover the snifels with a 10 dollar co-pay. But too many prioritize a new car, a I phone. I pad, full cable and shit before that kinda thing. I was raised a little different, where you get the luxuries after you have the basics covered and HCI is a fucking basic.
I agree. I have a basic phone plan, car is owned outright, simple internet without TV, still can't afford that shit. Once Obamacare kicks in I'll be buying health insurance again.

No, and we have medicaid for that........ No real need for ACA....... Yes your right you can get fucked good, if the perfect storm arises. Thats the kinda thing the ACA should have addressed, the 1 in a 1000 or 1 in 100000 case of circumstance like your link points out, thats not what we got now is it.
I'm having a hard time squaring away what you're trying to say with this. I don't want to be one of those grammar douches, buuuuut.... If those cases were so rare we wouldn't have such a high rate of bankruptcies due to medical bills and we wouldn't have people fucking dieing because they're insurable.

@Vedubin, I could run back to my parent's house, rummage through my mom's files, scan the letter, upload it to r3v... Or I could decide that it's not worth going through all that work to back up a side point on an internet argument. Simple fact is I can't get a standard health insurance plan and can't afford (nor can my parents) to buy into a high risk pool.

obamacare eliminates discrimination on account of age, so you, being 21, will face higher rates than you might otherwise.
me, i get lower rates subsidized by you.

As it should be. He's not really subsidizing you, he's subsidizing his future self, similar to saving for his future medical care, which is bound to go up as he ages." You, being a Financial Advisor should appreciate that approach.

lol, I'm not trying to be a dick in the least, but you get the point of my screen name, right?

Ugh, I couldn't handle constantly dealing with people. Plus, it'd be weird to work at a coffee shop when you don't like coffee. I've worked at America's Tire/Discount Tire for three years and if I weren't at school I would be an assistant manager. While they have pretty good benefits available to them, part timers get absolute shit. The health insurance that we can buy into pays for up to $3,000, $2,000, or whatever amount you choose of care. Up to. That's just retarded, I can come up with a few grand in a pinch if I need to, I can sell my car, I have great credit, whatever. It's the $30,000 procedure that I need insurance for. Anyway, that's not all that relevant, I just felt like ranting about the idiocy of it.

Like I said. Starbucks is well known for offering very very good HCI to even its part timers at very reasonable cost.

Sometime you have to do shit you dont like to get what have to have. Lots of people that make a good living had a 2ed part time job at starbucks just to get the HCI since it was much better than they could get though their "professional" day job

I dont like being away form home for most of the year, I have not seen my house since 1/2/12, have not seen the little woman since the 1st week of May, have not been home for more than 8 days (that was last xmass) since last OCT. I dont like it at all, but I do it day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, to provide a life for my family. Sometimes you just have to man up and suck it up and deal with doing shit you dont want or like to do to get what you need to survive or where you need to be in life.

                          ..
