    what is obamacare anyways

“So, let me get this straight (this is a long sentence), we’re going to be gifted with a healthcare plan we are forced to purchase, and fined if we don’t, which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn’t understand it, passed by a congress that didn’t read it, but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a president who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn’t pay his taxes, for which we will be taxed for four years before any benefits take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that’s broke. So what the blank could possibly go wrong?”

    Barbara Bellar

Dr. Bellar is not your typical politician and certainly does not fit the mold of a “Chicago” politico. In fact, she’s:
    • An ex-nun
    • An Army Reserve vet
    • A family practice physician (as she says, “from cradle to grave, from diapers to diapers, from womb to tomb”)
    • A lawyer
    • A motorcycle-riding, animal lover

I don't have time to fact check the drivel of Dr. Barbara, but I don't take uber issue with the whole thing. Sure it could be better but that's what progress is for.

so.... what about the 2.1 billion dollars it saved consumers last year?

A government report shows that rules in Obama's health-care law saved consumers $2.1 billion in premiums last year. It shows that states are using the law to their advantage, experts say.

The Monitor is a somewhat right learning publication, too. It's one of my main sources of news, after The Economist.

Do you pay attention to Europe, or do you just regurgitate right-wing talking points? Europe's problems stem far more from their numerous entitlement programs than their various universal health care systems. Just look at Germany, they've weathered the recession quite well and have a remarkably well balanced budget, all while continuing to provide healthcare for each and every one of their citizens.

Um. Just a question here. Why is that healt care should be a service provided by govt. When did that become a fundemental corrner stone of the function and role of govt in the governed lives????

                        Just a question is all

Because some of us find it absolutely appalling that people are dieing by the thousands from treatable ailments simply because they are unable to acquire health insurance. A just, modern society should not sit idly by while this happens.

Read my post again. I very clearly stated that their fiscal problems are rooted in the fact that they have too many frivolous entitlements, and that a UHC program is perfectly feasible with a balanced entitlement system. Never did I state that UHC wasn't an entitlement Reading comprehension, give it a try.
