The lesser of two evils is still evil.
Religion is dangerous. No?

I guess I just dont see enough of a difference between the two to even make it worth making a distinction between them.
Here is one issue I do have; everyone groups the Islamic terrorists and extremists in the same group as, say, Christian Extremists. Yes, they're both bad, and they're both in the same standing of wrong doing/ sin/ bad karma whatever you'd call it, but look at the books: The (NT) of the Bible, while it does call out evil doings, promotes love and piece for those who don't believe. Now, take a look at he Koran. Tell me what you see. There is an overwhelming amount of only violence. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not calling all Muslims evil. But there are differences. The Christian Extremists are corrupted by themselves, they take their own ideas and distort them for violence. Where as Islam is based upon those values( at least the Holy book).
and I'm out.
Extremists seem to tend to have an extremely distorted perception of the way those values should be applied to real world situations. Regardless of the foundation or purpose of the value, I think thats were the issue lies.Last edited by be34st; 09-18-2012, 03:02 PM.

Look at the old testament of the bible. Wiping out tribes who didn't believe. Taking their lands. All kinds of strife. Same shit with Muslims.
Please note I'm not trying to start shit or put anyone down. I went to a Christian school where we looked into the old testament, Koran, etc etc. Probably where I decided to look at it more historically than religiously. Anywho no religion is without its flaws. They all also have their good parts. This is why I choose to be just a good person and live a good life. It's pretty natural to me so I don't see the point in giving my money ad time into an organization which itself is at its core corrupt and nothing like I want my life to be.1974.5 Jensen Healey : 2003 330i/5Comment

Christians are bound to the words found in the OT as well, do not try and ignore that.I agree. I pretty much stay out of this section of the forum because of a few select people. Many people on here are capable of having calm, mature discussion while others can't. There are a few "elitist" atheists on here who need to calm the fuck down just as much as some of the theistic people. I am a Christian, I believe the Bible. Guess what? I also believe in many forms of evolution. Science proves it and no where in the Bible is that contradicted(in some respects it is proven).
That's where I'll end, as this isn't the thread for it, and it's not my job to continue to tell you things you(presumably) don't want to hear.

If Christians and Muslims followed their holy books to every last letter each and every single one of them would be an extremist responsible for violence, no one would be innocent. It's your modern sense or morality which makes you a good person.
Elitests eh? There's a difference between pointing out errors in logic/inaccuracies and flat out thinking you're better than someone.Comment
