Am I supposed to feel that I am fulfilling a desire for the 'caring of man' (the definition of philanthropy) by submitting MANDATORY tribute to an inefficient organization such as the US government? I had to send in withholding taxes today. I feel raped, not rewarded.

Taxes do not equal philanthropy. And, Sleeve's point is well documented. Conservatives give far more in both time and money to philanthropic and charitable organizations than liberals.

Now, back on topic. Obama will win the electoral vote but not the popular vote. Hopefully, more reason to get rid of the electoral college.

I don't know. I participate in a Consumer Driven Health Plan. My company increased my yearly premiums by $260/year, BUT they increased their contribution to my HSA by $600/year.

So it's not "fucking" me and my wife and we are part of the middle class.

That's good news for the two of you.
The company my wife works for (which is not a small one) had to increase the deductible on their insurance plan among a couple other things that weren't good news. Yet we're paying almost the same amount this next year for worse coverage.
However they *had* great insurance. Now they have better than most still. But the point still remains.

I think at these early stages of the Obamacare regulations it's probably the providers getting shafted. Since they are providing the goods and services, they will take a beating before the customer. And by customer I mean Joe Blow AND the insurance company. You also have to consider there are a lot of different insurance companies all taking different paths through the regs.

On the surface Obamacare was a promise to "help people" after all. In the long run though, after reality has reared it's ugly head, premiums will go up at a greater rate than they would have otherwise. There is simply no logical way that they can't.

Personally, my premiums are going down for 2013.

what do you guys think of the electoral college? I feel the people as a nation should choose the president not a group in different states. Kinda makes my vote feel worthless in a way. Like when Bush lost popularity vote and won the electoral.... makes me mad

I despise the electoral college. It serves 5 states at the expense of the other 45. It's an outdated dinosaur of the 18th century that skews elections, campaigns and politics in general towards those already in power. It shuts out 3rd part candidates entirely and fosters partisan bullshit.
