QFTLaPierre and crew must get down on their knees and thank god every single day that Obama is president, and even more so that he got re-elected. Seriously, he is the greatest thing that has ever happened to their organization. He's the big black boogeyman that's got every paranoid chuckle-fuck out on BFE scared to death, and making the gun & ammo manufactureres money hand over fist.

Paranoia is business, and business is good.

The only thing Obama has done with regards to gun control is relax it. The "Obama is going to take away your guns" fear-mongering wasn't started by anything Obama actually said or did, it was started by right-wingers and gun & ammo manufacturers. And they're laughing all the way to the bank, with your money.

Well at least he doesn't get his information from crackpot survivalist websites. Got to give credit where credit is due. Comment

 What are you talking about?

Even in the 93-01 era, average tax rate for the top quintile was still only ~27%

Just be happy that, as I mentioned before, even Democrats have observed that lower tax rates can still return the same tax revenue as % of GDP. Be glad Reagan's legacy continues to keep top marginal tax rates below 40%

And here's a good cartoon to emphasize how silly some people are:

Even W's marginal tax rate was higher than what his dad raised it to.

The Laffer Curve doesn't assume you can indefinitely lower the marginal rate, so until there is solid science and experimentation to determine the optimal rate for revenue and economic growth, it's all just speculation. (Why 35%? Why not 28%? How about the effects of 40%? What about 37%?) But risking a fiscal cliff over a few percent is silly - hopefully they come to a compromise soon. Like 10/15/25/30/35/37.5, whatever... I'm more concerned about the government's inability to make a decision than someone paying a few percent more on income beyond $388,350. Of course, for the people at the top 1%, they obviously may care more about the latter then the former.

The middle class? Why are they buying into the bullshit about Mitt paying taxes at a lower rate than them? Median household income for a family of 4 is $50k, but check out a typical average tax rate for double that...

Both sides have skewed the truth so much and played on people's emotions and concerns for their wallets instead of just acting like adults and being rational.Comment
