Yes, I agree. This is one of my reasons too. And also the Republican party in general seems to be more religious than the Democratic party.

I don't like Romney because his track record and history shows little concern for the middle-class that he claimed he was fighting for. One example is the early Bain Capital business venture of Key Airlines. This was a very small company, and a couple of the pilots had attempted to unionize due to safety concerns. This is very common among small non-union airlines, as frequently the workers are made to feel as though they need to perform under conditions that they feel are unsafe or against regulations or they shall be subject to punishment. Several companies have a long history of this... places like Pacific Wings, etc.
In any case, Romney's firm was ruled to have participated in illegal union-busting as outlined in the Railway Labor Act. Two pilots were 'forced' to sign letters of resignation, apparently. Here's a brief article, as well as the text from the National Mediation Board.
They sold the airline shortly thereafter for a large profit.
The aviation profession has a long history of providing good jobs for people. Jobs that can support an upper-middle class living environment for a family. The kinds of jobs that we need more of in this country. There is also a history of entry-level aviation jobs being downright abusive. When a pilot group tries to unionize so as to be able to operate in a way that is both safe and compliant, as well as pursue the improvement of their jobs, that is a positive thing. I find it indefensible that someone like Romney would use any means necessary to defeat the union drive and illegally fire workers without cause, and later claim to be supportive of the middle class.
Fuck him. May he rot in hell with Frank Lorenzo.
I'm an airline pilot for a well known carrier in the Northwest. I will make 25k this year, and be away from home for all but about 8 days per month. Fuck anyone who tries to tear this profession down any further.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of Obama either. His fiscal policies and reckless spending will be disastrous. But a Romney presidency and appointed National Mediation Board would be a catastrophe for anyone in this country who considers themselves a laborer.Last edited by mulletman; 11-09-2012, 04:06 PM.Comment

So is there no enforcement of the ' Outright flaming of people for their political stance or religious beliefs WILL NOT BE TOLERATED' noted in the sticky?
I have read excessive drivel from tjts personally flaming sleeve and at least one other more than once the last few days. It is obvious that sleeve can take care of himself but there is more than enough nonsense here without these comments, primarily from one poster.Comment

To where? All of the good jobs in this industry are gone.
Incidentally, my company has the highest starting pay in the nation for comparable positions. All of the others are between 18 and 22k.
The Delta guys have taken a 70% cut since 2001. United and American have done the same. US Airways pays less than the others.
The cargo companies, the ones with no responsibility for human life, pay significantly more than any passenger carrying operation.Comment
