I'm wondering how it can be that high.

I know earlier this year the wife did Tulsa/Great Falls and back, last minute because of a family death, $1200 roundtrip.

$1000 each way is dramatically more than it costs to fly to Europe.

A few of the guys I know are mileage people like Up in the Air and search fare buckets instead of just orbitz or whatnot.

ExpertFlyer will change the way you fly. Quickly find information on flight availability, seats, fares, and the best options for using your frequent flyer miles.

FCA is a popular destination, and I am normally flying into Allentown PA. normally on 3-5 days notice. Honestly unless you hit it just right between tourist and ski season Delta is out of sight, I just looked at going back to work just after the 1st of the year, the weds after new years was the cheapest at 1090 dollars via delta. My now more normal routing Into SeaTac on Alaska and US/Continental to Either Phill or Dulles, then to ABE, 595!!!

Its nuts sometimes how much more a all delta flight can be. All thought I did a round last xmass booked 4 days in advance, and only a 5 or 6 night stay at home. out and back in thorough Pit, for something like 1060 or so.

Edit I what i have quoted was looking about 6 days ago, I just went and looked again, Orbitz 473 Delta 550. If I knew thats when i needed to be back I would book it now. ;) Unless I wanted to fly on the 5th of Jan thats still a grand

Edit again. When I was looking to get home 2 weeks ago it was nuts, everything I looked at for delta was 1090, no matter the day or time, and thats been my experience the last few times I have looked, now we are all in the 6-700 range. I dont get it, was everything matrix up for thanksgiving travel or something ....

But you can't act like the cesspool that is Fox News is the same as WSJ, who may have the same lean but cater to different audiences and the latter includes more facts and leave more to the reader to decide.

In the same way, CNN/MSNBC and others are dumbed-down for the masses and NPR is for the educated. Such, NPR might be left-leaning but certainly more informative.

Research has demonstrated that Fox News viewers are less informed than those who do not watch the news.

NPR and Sunday morning political talk shows are the most informative news outlets, while exposure to partisan sources, such as Fox News and MSNBC, has a negative impact on people’s current events knowledge.
As I mentioned, watching The Daily Show which has news that is actually supposed to be fake is more informative than Faux News:
The largest effect is that of Fox News: all else being equal, someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic questions correctly — a figure which is significantly worse than if they had reported watching no media at all. On the other hand, if they listened only to NPR, they would be expected to answer 1.51 questions correctly; viewers of Sunday morning talk shows fare similarly well. And people watching only The Daily Show with Jon Stewart could answer about 1.42 questions correctly.

How MSNBC Became Fox’s Liberal Evil Twin
MSNBC has pumped up its ratings by recasting itself as a left-leaning riposte to Fox News, and that’s fine. Fox long ago proved that a lot of viewers like to hear cable anchors echo what they already think; MSNBC is just playing catch-up.
That's not a news source - that's tuning in to hear what you already think. Behavior that perfectly explains several posters in this thread. And that's why viewers of MSNBC and Fox News are less informed than those who don't watch any news - they fill the minds of uninformed people with more misinformation and bias.

                        Maybe NPR.

                        Other than that, BBC.

A leaked account of an 'impartiality summit' called by BBC chairman Michael Grade, is certain to lead to a new row about the BBC and its reporting on key issues, especially concerning Muslims and the war on terror

You act like people who willingly spend hours debating would actually spend more than a couple minutes to "become informed" about the subject at hand. News allows them to have an opinion without any effort.
