I'm just glad I don't live in Virginia any more. 5 ship loads of seamen everywhere does not sound fun.

Looks like a pretty serious national security risk. Well now that they've made history maybe it wont happen again for a long time again.

Not only this fact that there long and Narrow channel that is a good hour steam to to get the open ocean that can easily be blocked with ONE sunken ship, there by trapping all other deep draft ocean going vessels in the narrow and cramped harbor. Not in the last 70 years has this many carriers been in ONE PORT AT THE SAME TIME

Basically what I've gotten from this is that r3v members think they have a better strategic understanding of the military than the military does.

FUBAR is another acronym with a military background.

as far as the OP, sequestration scare tactics account for at least one of them- the missing group from the Persian gulf.

I'll tell you why and its already been reported by Bob Woodward

It's the sequester. According to our (faux) commander in chief, we can't protect ourselves because of a 1.5% reduction the discretionary US budget.

The Pres did this intentionally. This sequester is the bill he asked for, got, and signed into law. And now somehow it's all the R's fault for not letting the R's draft a bill (that has passed the House twice) to allow the individual agencies some discretion in how the cuts are applied?

Either way, they need to bring back the Mack-Penny plan.

Long-term, we are all fucked with a red hot poker in our ass. Might as well enjoy the spiral down.

                                Cale No thats not it.

Why do we now break standard procedure of not having 1/2 the carrier fleet all in one place???? Since WWII its been a policy not to have that many Capital ships in port at one time.

Surely you can see the issues with this from an OP-Spec point of view. From what little I could find to go with this, many of the Top Naval comaders have had a WTF reaction to this as well and this recall came from the 0 admin.

I am aware that the sequester may have something to do with it, but they have been there for nearly 2 months it seems...... But seriously something here is not passing the smell test with this
