So, what about closing the FDA and investigating the large salmonella outbreak?
Surely there are other things they could have closed to keep this dept open?
It's indicative of the mindset of the Administration.Leave a comment:

I figured you were typing on the phone :p^
OK spelling Nazi sorry a phone post missed a d and had a couple of letters twisted up, I think you should have been able to gleen vindictive out of that
I have been saying something along the lines of distraction since this started. Not to mention why should the hipocarcy not be pointed out.......
The point is they are closed to the public unless it happens to be a rally for a cause the whitehouse likes ummmmmmm. Yeah no big deal at all with that. Nothing to see here move along
if it's even more than a couple sentences, I won't even try.Leave a comment:

It's really taking a toll on the WH and Barry himself. I mean, missing his weekly golf game?
Not being able to go out on the town to those 5 star restaurants?
Must be terrible.

Vencitive make it hurt as much as possible "shut down"............ unless it one of your own causes of course then an exception can be made
More blatant partisan Hippocratic hackery from our dear leader. NPS shuts down and spend more money to close and patrol to attempt to keep veterans out of the open air WWII memorial. Yet NPS OKs a pro immigration rally on the closed national mall

The problem with the shutdown is that 'our government' is not the republicans, or the democrats, to shut down.
The government is the people, and instead of the peoples representatives sitting down at a table and saying 'well our people dont want obamacare, what can we do about it' - 'well, our people do want obamacare, so you can try and get elected next year and reverse it, sorry'.
Instead of talking about it like normal people they are holding ALL the american peoples credit rating for hostage and throwing the country into ruin. Imagine if this happened on nearly every 50/50 decision split. WHAT IF it will continue to happen like this on every decision?
We have almost a million more democrats in our state compared to republicans, and yet they somehow control everything. Our unaffiliated voters are just 200k behind registered republicans before they become the 2nd largest 'party' in the state. If they keep up this devisive negotiation that hurts everyone then they are only taking themselves out in the end.Leave a comment:

Maybe we'll have a rise of a moderate party? That's what I hope. I have a lot of peers in an awkward spot where they'd like the GOP if they didn't disrespect gays, women, and science. Or just basic logic and care for facts.
If the country has any luck, then this stunt should have the RWNJs lose the majority in the House: http://washingtonexaminer.com/poll-r...rticle/2536929
Of course... maybe not:A poll of 24 Republican-held swing districts shows that a generic Democrat would beat a Republican incumbent in 17 of them — the very number of seats Democrats would need to wrest from Republicans to take control of the House.
Republicans tied with the generic Democrat in two swing districts and led in five others. But all seven of those Republicans lost support once voters were told they backed the current government shutdown.
"These were the kinds of numbers we were starting to see in Democratic districts four years ago," Tom Jensen, director of Public Policy Polling, said Monday. "We did see the seeds of discontent in the summer and fall of 2009, we did see that continue through to [the midterm elections in] 2010."
http://www.economist.com/blogs/democ...gerrymandering
In the National Journal, Ron Brownstein, David Wasserman and Ben Terris write that Republicans in the House don't have to worry about the backlash against the shutdown because compared to a few years ago, gerrymandering has guaranteed that they're now in much safer, more deeply Republican districts. At the same time, as we wrote just after the 2012 elections, gerrymandering helped increase the number of seats won by Republicans such that they retained a solid 33-seat majority in the House despite losing the overall popular congressional vote by 1.4m votes. One might wonder: how can both these things be true?
