I feel as though there was something heavy inside him that caused his antics. I'm sorry for the hurt he caused but also, albeit less so, for the torment he must have lived with in order to be so radical as well as the burden of the hatred he carried around.

You don't get it. He was a fucking lawyer, playing the protections of free speech and religion to anger the largest cross sections of society he could, knowing people would snap, and physically respond from the anger of the shock that someone or some group would stand behind these ideas. They then would use their legal backgrounds to sue and win, and put NDA's and gag orders on everything so the mass public doesn't know their angle.

They aren't even religious, it's all a fucking sham for money.

Well that's also an interesting thought. I've considered that, and it is very plausible and to a certain extent I believe it to be true, but his religious extremism started before he was a lawyer. I just can't personally see me being able to keep such a charade up for so long, and with such intensity, harming so many people, just for money.
