Old people in cars kill and injure people. they should drive, no one should, it's not safe.

If I were the devil, I would encourage schools to refine young intellect but neglect to discipline emotions. I'd tell teachers to let those students run wil. And before you knew it, you'd have drug-sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

With a decade, I'd have prisons overflowing and judges promoting pornography. Soon, I would evict God from the courthouse and the schoolhouse and them from the houses of Congress.

In his own churches, I would substitute psychology for religion and deify science. I'd lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls and church money.

If I were the devil, I'd take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious.

What'll you bet I couldn't get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich?

I'd convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging is more fun and that what you see on television is the way to be.

And thus, I could undress you in public and lure you into bed with diseases for which there are no cures.

In other words, if I were the devil, I'd just keep right on doing what he's doing.

our gun laws were set up in a society that took responsibility for their own actions. people now, blame everyone and everything for their faults. in a society that respects others, loves others and uses judgement there is no issue with letting people have all the freedoms. but with the dumbing down of our population, the lack of education and the lack of responsibility our population cannot endure the freedoms we have loved for 200 years.

India is anything but homogenous and has banned gun ownership. Gun crime there is minimal - less than 1 gun death/100,000 people (US is around 10, I think?).

Of course a society with almost no guns is going to have less gun violence than the US does BUuuuuuut...

How about India's levels of rape and sexual assault?
How about their levels of non-firearm violent crime.

India's NOT a safe place. Our word "thug" came from India.

It's not an indictment of lawful owners buying and selling firearms to one another, it's a refutation of the claim that most guns used in crimes are stolen guns.

But it is, actually...

According to a 1994 ATF study on "Sources of Crime Guns in Southern California," many straw purchases are conducted in an openly "suggestive" manner where two people walk into a gun store, one selects a firearm, and then the other uses identification for the purchase and pays for the gun. Or, several underage people walk into a store and an adult with them makes the purchases. Both of these are illegal activities.

And this could describe a father buying his son a gun for his birthday.
The ATF wants every change of firearm ownership to go through an FFL so that they can illegally copy the documentation and build a registry they're not supposed to have.

The point isn't that it's illegal to buy a gun for one's son, but that if the youth uses the gun in a commission of a crime it's more likely that the gun was bought for him instead of him stealing it.

That's the claim, but I don't trust much of anything that comes out of the ATF.

For example, the CT shooter took his mother's gun without permission. Does the ATF count that as a theft?

Exactly what is the "recent ATF report" that cites the "time-to-crime" statistics?

REPORTED rapes. There's an incredible amount of sexual violence aimed at the dalit class in India that goes unreported. Just a clarification. There was an in-depth report on this specifically about a year and a half ago. It was in The Economist, not Fox News.
