I don't see what that has to do with my point. SWAT teams and military tactics were specifically adopted primarily to bust drug operations. Now they've adapted those tactics to whatever they damn well please. Couldn't have got there without the drug war as a stepping stone.

The issue is not that SWAT teams are using military tactics. The issue is that they are calling a SWAT team a non-profit to skirt an open and transparent government.

actually, I think that is the point - that our police force is becoming increasingly militarized. Hiding behind a special corporation is just another step in the wrong direction.

I don't have a problem with a militarized police force so long as the public is in charge of them. So long as they can't hide from their activity, reasons for being militarized, who they are targeting. But it is clear they don't want to share those things. But the drug war leading to militarization of the police is a symptom, not the cause. Tyranny is the cause.

FYI, I agree that the drug war is silly. I think druggies who over dose should be left where they are. Or buy private health insurance specifically for drug users.
