I'm in the greater Seattle metro area, not some isolated city, so I'm not sure what point you were trying to make with that comment. Just because the suburb city of Lynnwood does not have a lot of murders doesn't mean I don't listen to what happens locally in the news.

As for the rest of your post, I'm not sure what you want me to show or prove--you're demanding something that entirely depends on your perspective of 'demonizing' and it's pretty obvious that you're not particularly adept at judging what that qualification is or how often it happens.

If you can find ANYTHING that demonizes a minority involved in a minority-on-white crime like how whites are commonly demonized in white-on-minority crime in the media I'd like to see it.

Portland must be a pretty nice city. In places like Baltimore we call this type of incident [unfortunately] a near daily occurrence and no, we don't consider it news, we consider it a statistic. A good portion of the time victims of violence over disputes have a legitimate chance to just walk away from the situation, but decide to "man up" instead. Considering their history with Mr. Crazy, they would've known the dude was trouble... but I bet the son-in-law got tired of his shit and decided to "man up". As history tells us (as well as this story) "manning up" rarely works out for anyone involved in an altercation.

Is this a tragic story? Yes. But is it newsworthy? No. However, someone wanted this story in the limelight and decided to cry "Hate crime!", which seems to be the magic ringer for good publicity these days. And now that 3 Muslim family members get shot in a red neck part of the country. The part of the country that is that "old country white folk". The media then spins it riling people by showing the 3 in traditional Muslim wear. Id doubt they were even shot in their traditional gear. Media begging for rating and in tern feeding the fire.

Here in the civilized world we consider a triple homicide (no matter the motives) to be newsworthy, and quite serious. Maybe it was about religion, maybe it wasn't. Does that mean we should stick our head in the sand and pretend it's not even a possibility? Of course not.

BTW, immediately jumping to the conclusion that it can't possibly be about their race/religion because they happen to be arab/muslim, and that the whole thing isn't newsworthy and only gets attention because of "race", is the very definition of racism :)
