"get it" or "had it" isn't a clear statement, the obvious connection someone would make is "with age comes wisdom" and that has pretty much turned into an idiom with how people have abused the phrase.

With age you do understand things differently, that doesn't mean you have ultimate purchase in anything besides "life skills". Just cause Grandpa grew up on the farm does not mean he should have any arguments on what government policies do and do not work, or anything that isn't farm work or life skills at all.

Literally Ignorance if that is what you guys are referring to.

If all old men are wise republicans, then why is Bernie an evil communist?

Also, if Trump is so great, why is Coca-Cola saying hell no? :giggle: It's the party of business, right? So why are business' getting so antsy?

I want to know why "old wise republicans" criticize Socialistic policies so much when they live off them.

Thats fine, lets remove them, GTFO off my Tax money through Social Security then. Its not my fault you didn't pull your bootstraps up far enough to support your retirement.

About to be 100% off topic, but you don't have to worry about me taking your tax money through SS.

WOW it must be an interesting place to live inside your head. Um with interaction with the the world for a lifetime (IE in the real post formal education world) will give one a sense of how the world actually works not how one thinks it should or theoretically works. You have the point of the post (it seems) but yet ignore the facts of life.

You are aware that nearly all farms post great depression in the USA, ARE NOT SUBSISTENCE operations and are FOR PROFIT BUSINESSES (usually multi million dollar set ups) right. That farmer has to know far more than how to steer a green tractor and feed the live stock twice a day, if they want to keep the place going that is.

My grandfather always told me (when I was much younger) that someday when I actually had something worth while, that I might get protective of what I have. He was right, as soon as I started to earn a bit more money and acquired some real asset's I began to look for ways to protect those things I had worked very hard to get. I am fortunate to have the things I do, does not mean I am not going protect myself and my family 1st, also does not mean I dont do things to help those than need it on my own, its nice choosing where some of my "excess" goes to actually do good in charitable donations since I would have to pay it out in taxes anyway I get to say where it goes.

Welp 1 didnt say anything about being a wise old R or D, My father was a blue and bluer to the death D and my Grandparents were blood red R's my great aunt and uncle that raised us as much as my parents did (lived across the street from them for 20 years) were split and worked both sides of the isle. My point was not so much a political one as view on life in general one hence why I made NO MENTION of the sort. Political views are as much a derivation of life experience as they are of self interest, and both those things change as we progress though life.

Bernie is a self ASCRIBED COMMIE, that makes him a commie. I dont think hes a true "red" Marxist, but that not the point. Says a lot, given hes actually a main stream front running candidate for POTUS.

Not going to even argue, Can barely read what Sleeve calls formal writing.

Yeah I won't get the fruits of my labor in SS either Exodus, thank god all the politicians broke that program so much and made it useless for anyone besides our current parents and grandparents.

Commie my ass, I talk and work with people who ACTUALLY grew up in communist regimes, this country is so brainwashed when it comes to any government that isn't good ol American Oligarchy its not even funny anymore.

It's time for me to take a couple month break from P&R, the rhetoric is overwhelming.

Come join the Railroad. We have our own retirement fund separate from SS. They tried to merge it a while back, but that didn't work out.

If you study history at all, you'll find a few inconvenient factoids that may sway your current opinions.
Look into what happened in communist China, what happened in Russia under Stalin.
Bernie honeymooned in the Soviet Union.
Two things you can't get around. Socialism/communism is responsible historically for more mass deaths than any other political system. And good old capitalism is responsible for lifting more people out of poverty than any other political system.
You may say it can't happen in today's world, we're smarter etc. bullshit. Capitalism is the least worst form of economics.
And those that bring up the wage/wealth gap? The worst gaps are all in socialistic systems historically
